BACKGROUND INFORMATION Special Use Request SU96-16 was considered and approved by City Council at their December 17, 1996 meeting to allow for the replacement of an athletic field light standard with a110 foot monopole used in conjunction with a cellular antenna array and ground equipment. The approval also included the reattachment of sports field lights to the monopole. With this request the applicant intends to expand the existing 1,566 square foot ground lease area by adding a new 150 square foot pad within the existing lease area. The pad will be used for placement of ground equipment which will support a new antenna array for Verizon on the existing monopole. The subject property is zoned "GU" Governmental Use District and is the site of the Colleyville Heritage High School. An antenna array is proposed to be added at the 94 foot point on the monopole. The lease area is located between the existing track and baseball field. An existing fence area will be expanded to encompass the new ground equipment. No Special Use Permit shall be valid for a period longer than one (1) year from the date on which the City Council grants the Special Use, unless within such one (1) year period: (1) a Building Permit is obtained and the erection or alteration of a structure is started, or (2) an Occupancy Permit is obtained and a use commenced. The City Council may grant one additional extension not exceeding one (1) year, upon written application, without notice or hearing.
