FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: APRIL 21, 2026
SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF HISTORIC GRAPEVINE COMMERCIAL FACADE
PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION: City Council consider approval of the Historic Grapevine Commercial
Facade program and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE: Program is funded by Economic Development funds in an amount not to
exceed $100,000.
BACKGROUND: Economic Development and the Convention and Visitors Bureau worked
together to create the Historic Grapevine Commercial Facade Program.
The program allows for grants up to $10,000 for the construction projects
conducted by businesses within the Grapevine Historic Township. These
funds are for labor and/or materials, subject to the approval of the Grant
Board, and are reimbursed at the completion of the project. The aim of
this project is to support local businesses, maintain the authentically
historic look of Main Street, and incentivize projects that would otherwise
not have occurred.
The program was first presented to the City Council on February 3, 2026.
Changes were made and it was presented again March 17, 2026. Based
on feedback from the March 17 meeting, the following changes are
proposed.
-Structure must be 50 years of age or older to be eligible.
-Application must come from the property owner - tenants are ineligible to
apply.
-A 50% match is required with a maximum City expenditure of$10,000.
