SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF ANNUAL SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH THE CITY
OF BEDFORD FOR PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO SYSTEM AND
SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of annual sole source contract for
Public Safety radio system and software maintenance with the City of
Bedford for the Fire and Police Departments.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the CCPD Fund for an annual estimated amount of
$84,845.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to renew the Motorola annual Public Safety radio system
and software maintenance agreement.
This agreement is necessary to ensure the radio tower and infrastructure,
which comprise the trunked radio network for Grapevine Fire and Police,
is maintained for all six cities (Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine,
Keller, and Southlake) that share in the Northeast Tarrant County Radio
Consortium (NETCO) agreement. Each city pays one-sixth of the total
contract amount. The City of Grapevine's portion is $84,845.
The City of Bedford is the coordinator for the Motorola maintenance
contract. The contract may be renewed yearly based on performance and
availability of funds.
This procurement of Public Safety radio system and software
maintenance will be made as a sole source purchase with City of Bedford
in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B,
§ 252.022. General Exemptions (a) (7) (A). Items that are available from
only one source because of patents, copyrights, or secret processes.
Staff recommends approval.
