HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 13 - Glock Pistols MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MAY 19, 2026
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PURCHASE OF GLOCK PISTOLS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of Glock pistols from
Primary Arms LLC for the Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Special Revenue Fund (Federal Forfeitures) for
an estimated amount of $15,535.80 after trade in. ($100,630.80 less
$85,095)
BACKGROUND: This item requests approval to purchase replacement duty handguns and
optics for the Grapevine Police Department. The current equipment issued
has reached the point where optic replacement is necessary. During
evaluation, it was determined that the cost to replace optics alone is
comparable to purchasing a new handgun and optic combination
package. The optic is a critical component of the firearm that assist with
targeting when firing the weapon.
As a result, the Department proposes a full replacement to ensure
reliability, modernization, and long-term value. The total cost of the new
handgun and optic packages is $100,630.80. Through the trade-in of
existing firearms and related equipment, a credit of approximately $85,095
will be applied, resulting in a net cost of$15,535.80.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to
Primary Arms LLC. The Police and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract
for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the
needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
