SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
QUOTE FOR BRONZE SCULPTURE CLEANING
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for
bronze sculpture cleaning from Schaefer Art Bronze Casting for the Parks
and Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Special Revenue Fund (Public Art) for an
estimated amount of $26,800.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for cleaning and maintenance of public art bronze
statues owned by the City of Grapevine. The City of Grapevine has
several notable bronze works of art in various locations commemorating
our heritage, celebrating our history, promoting our mission or honoring
notable events such as the 911 Memorial. This purchase is for annual
maintenance for the proper cleaning and restoration efforts necessary to
ensure each of these arts pieces continue to look as originally intended
into perpetuity.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$100,000 per SB 1173, effective September 1, 2025. Three quotes were
submitted as noted below. Schaefer Art Bronze Casting submitted the
lowest quote meeting specifications. The low bid provided by Guardian
Dallas did not meet the requirements of the department or exhibit the
proper expertise, and all locations were not bid.

Guardian Dallas $4,930
Fegan Fine Art Restoration No Bid
Staff recommends approval.
