SUBJECT: PURCHASE COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT FOR FIRE
APPARATUS UNIT 10121
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a complete engine
replacement for fire apparatus unit 10121, due to failure, from Cummins
Sales and Service for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fleet) for an amount not to
exceed $60,706.
BACKGROUND: This purchase of complete engine replacement for fire apparatus 10121.
This is a 2021 vehicle that will be in service for several more years.
The purchase for the complete engine replacement for fire apparatus
10121, the engine at fire station 1 that will move to reserve status on July
1 as we transition to the ladder/squad model.
The purchase will be made from Cummins Sales and Service, who
specializes in heavy truck service and will be made as a sole source
purchase in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, §252.022. General Exemptions (a)(7)(3).
Staff recommends approval.
