HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Soccer Field Lighting MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER V
MEETING DATE: APRIL 4, 2017
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
SOCCER FIELD LIGHTING
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of soccer field lighting
for Meadowmere Park from Musco Sports Lighting, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 121-48850-312-00-170014
(Quality of Life) for a total amount not to exceed $758,021.00.
BACKGROUND:
Soccer has continued to rise in popularity. Limited field space means that there is a need
to light more fields so more teams can be accommodated. The addition of lights was
previously approved in the May 2011 Parks & Recreation Master Plan Update and funds
were appropriated earlier this month in the five year Quality of Life Capital Plan.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The
Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Musco Sports Lighting,
LLC. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract
for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract
would best meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
