HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - UPS Battery ReplacementsMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: JULY 7, 2026
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF UPS BATTERY REPLACEMENTS FOR LIBRARY AND
CITY HALL
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of UPS battery
replacements for the Library and City Hall from Lofton Innovation, LLC. for
the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Fund for a total amount not
to exceed $52,200.
BACKGROUND: This purchase will replace two end -of -life uninterruptible power supplies
(UPS) located at City Hall and the Library. Each unit is approximately 20
years old, and replacement parts and batteries have become increasingly
difficult to obtain. These UPS systems provide essential backup power to
the network infrastructure in both facilities, ensuring continuity of
operations during electrical service interruptions.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The General Services Administration (GSA) as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to
Lofton Innovation, LLC. The IT and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract
for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the
needs of the City.
