FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: JULY 7, 2026
SUBJECT: PURCHASE REPLACEMENT SWITCHES FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT
INTERSECTIONS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of replacement
switches for traffic light intersections from ePlus Technologies Inc. for the
IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Fund for an amount of
$127,697.
BACKGROUND: This purchase will replace 45 end -of -life network switches installed at
traffic signal intersections. The existing switches are approximately 10
years old and have reached the end of their operational lifespan.
Replacing them is necessary to maintain network connectivity for
intersection equipment, including cameras and signal timing systems,
managed by Public Works.
This purchase will be made in accordance with Region VIII Education
Service Center, known as The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS), as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to ePlus
Technologies Inc. The IT, Traffic, and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing to
meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
