SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR SAFETY BOOTS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for the purchase of
safety boots with Red Wing Shoes and Cavender's.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund, CCPD Fund, Storm Drainage
Fund, Lake Parks Fund, Convention and Visitors Bureau Fund, Utility
Enterprise Fund (Water), and Lake Enterprise Fund (Golf) for eligible
employees.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for safety
boots for city employees annually. Eligible employees will receive a fixed
price voucher in the amount of $200 to obtain safety boots instead of
getting the annual safety boot allowance in their paycheck. This will help
ensure the employees receive a quality boot annually.
This Purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the North Texas SHARE Cooperative of Texas as allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791. The contract was for an initial two-year period with
three optional one-year renewals.
North Texas SHARE Cooperative of Texas solicited a Request for
Proposal 2026-004 for Safety Boots and awarded based on the evaluation
criteria stated in the bid. Risk Management and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that
this contract would provide the best product, service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
