CITY OF GRAPEVINE
The Library Board of the Grapevine Public Library of the City of Grapevine, Texas met at the
Grapevine Public Library in the Regular Session on the 20th day of April 2026 at 6:30 pm. The
following members present to -wit:
Gerald Shannon Chairman
Sonia Duque-Miyashita Member
Lynda Brown Member
Laura Rushing Member
constituting a quorum with the following member of the city staff: Paul Slecha, City Council Member,
Leigh Kapsos, Library Director and Chad Hetterley, Assistance Library Director: Board members
Suzanne Matthew, Jennifer Blake, and Krishna Shenoy were not in attendance.
1 CALL TO ORDER
The Meeting was called to order by Gerald Shannon at 6:30 pm.
2. CITIZEN COMMENTS
No comments
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Lynda Brown to approve the January 19, 2026, minutes, seconded by Laura Rushing.
Ayes: Unanimous
Nays: None
4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Digital Archives Demonstration
Demonstration of the Digital Archives was provided by Chad. The library has been designated as the
official archive of Grapevine. Access will be available via the library website. Rollout targeted in, May.
• Mayor Tate collection highlighted.
B. Online Library Card Sign-up
Still in development. Testing is being completed.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Genealogy Room Arrangement and Equipment Plans
New furniture is being reviewed. Furniture will be on casters to provide flexibility with room and
space set up.
• Microfiche Scanner equipment is being investigated for enhanced tecfinology
capabilities. Cost to digitize microfiche is being researched as well.
B. Interdepartmental Projects and Partnerships
1. Nash Farms — quilt created by Library was auctioned off and Leigh provided boo c repair
and binding presentation.
2. New partnerships:
• Parks and Recreation - Bookmobile presented a Pop -Up story time.
• Convention Business Bureau — Participated in the Business Expo in March.
6. MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS AND/OR DISCUSSION
A. Mayor Tate's Golden Jubilee
1. Multiple and various events planned throughout the year to recognized Mayor Tate's 50
years of city service.
2. A display highlighting his service will be in the library.
3. Statue will be unveiled in May.
B. City Update
Focus on sales tax renewal
C. Comments
Summer reading theme - Dinosaurs
D. Next Board Meeting
The next Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, at 6:30 pm.
There was no formal action taken.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Laura Rushing, seconded by Lynda Brown, to adjourn meeting. Meeting was adjo arned at
7:20 pm.
