The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will be held on November 19, 2015 at Nash Farm,
626 Ball Street. If you plan to attend this public meeting and you have a disability that requires special

Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau,
2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were NO citizen comments.
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation
Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or
taking action during Citizen Comments.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the August 19, 2015
meeting; Sue Franks seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Perkins and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Jensen)
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Janet Perkins reported the Foundation currently has 168 active memberships; five
renewal notices were mailed out.
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the Nash Farm activity for the month of
September with 3,392 attending with the Italian CarFest, yielding a total of 14,588 for a
year to date total. There were 1,505 Farmhand volunteer hours for the fiscal year.
Jim Lauderdale asked for a board member to volunteer for registration at the Saturday
Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie. On November 14 from 8 a.m. to noon the Annual
Volunteer Training will be held; training is required every two years for volunteer
Farmhands. Victorian Christmas will be on December 5th from 3 —6 p.m.
The Annual Fall Round Up! (FRUP) was successful with perfect weather and $7,608
total income with expenses of$4,206, yielding a net profit of $3,402, a special thank you
to Balla Wright for her plea to board members to each contribute $100 as a sponsorship
for the event. Thank you to those board members who answered the call to make this a
profitable event for the Farm.
City Council Liaison Mike Lease complimented the National Honor Society students for
their volunteer work in making the FRUP a success. Board member Ross Bannister
noted the improvements made to the Farm with the new appropriate half-round gutters
on the farmhouse; Mark Bires' hayrack for the sheep; the new canvas cover for the
Conestoga wagon; and the updated sign at the corner of Ball and College Streets.
Chairman Ratliff thanked all who worked the FRUP.
NEW BUSINESS
David Klempin gave an update on the Candlelight Tour of Homes 2075, a meeting is
scheduled with the participating homeowners and Grapevine Historical Society museum
to set the parameters for the tour and answer any questions. They will meet with the
homeowners again on the Friday night before the tour.

VI. LIAISON REPORTS
P.W. McCallum noted the date of 75 years since the Palace Theatre opened in
November of 1940. On Friday night, November 20, the movie Tender Mercies will be
shown; the emcee will recognize the members of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation
board and other VIP's present; a brief history of the 75 years with a three minute power
point; trailers from the movie My Love Came Back To Me; and recognition of Arthur
Emerson for his devotion to the Palace Theatre's movies.
P.W. announced new staff member Paula Newman as the Managing Director of
Operations, Finance &Administration. Paula is a Grapevine resident and a native of
Oklahoma, she has a MBA from TCU and 25 years of experience over Finance &
Operations for Lone Star and Remington Parks. Paula will also be an asset for Nash
Farm as she has been a horse breeder.
P.W. invited all to the unveiling of the flying unicorn, "Imagine", to grace the north turret
of the CVB as the Grapevine Public Art Trail's newest piece. Grapevine's Public Art is
funded by revenue received from cell phone antennas atop Grapevine water towers.
The unveiling will be before the Christmas Parade on December 3.
Balla Wright said the Garden Club's tribute to Shane Wilbanks, for his inspiration for the
Botanical Gardens as a source for relaxation, meditation and educational
demonstrations, was a great success with over 1,000 attending the Grapevine Parks
Department Open House.
Kubota Tractor has scheduled ground breaking; TEX Rail is moving forward with rail
development; and Christmas Capital of Texas is approaching fast.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Melva Stanfield, seconded by Ross Bannister, made the motion to adjourn the meeting
at 6:25 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Perkins and Vaughn)
Nays: None
