CALL TO ORDER Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. Ill. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were NO citizen comments. Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. 1 17 JUNE 2015 17 June 2015 III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Melva Stanfield made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the May 20, 2015 meeting; Don Vaughn seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: None IV. OLD BUSINESS Janet Perkins reported the Foundation currently has 196 active memberships, 44 renewal letters were sent out this month, several memberships have come in and are being posted now. $250 in donations was received from the Nash Farm Dairy Day program. Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the May attendance numbers for interpretive programs, group tours and the volunteer hours for the month bringing the fiscal year-to- date attendance total to 9,476 and 80 activity programs. Ross Bannister commented on the good visitor turn out for the Dairy Day program and complimented Don Vaughn on his personal service to each of the 350 visitors he scooped ice cream for. V. NEW BUSINESS Frances Jensen reported she and co-chair Kayte Roberts had met with staff after the May meeting to discuss prospective homes for the 2015 Candlelight Tour of Homes on November 14, 2015. The committee would meet again after today's meeting; they have eleven letters to mail asking homeowners to show their homes in this year's tour. Janet Perkins announced the committee for the Foundation's calendar met on June 4 to discuss content and had decided on a page per month calendar with photographs and pages in an 8 by 11 inch format. They are estimating to have 500 calendars printed with 200 going to active members and new members as they join the Foundation; remaining calendars would be for sale in the Convention & Visitors Bureau gift shop. The committee will meet again on June 25 and bring their final recommendations before the board in July for approval. P.W. McCallum said the Parks & Recreation Department mail out two calendars per year to every resident in Grapevine; he asked Janet and the committee to speak with them regarding a page listing the Foundation and Historic Preservation's activities. VI. LIAISON REPORTS Sue Franks was the Grapevine Heritage Foundation's liaison at the May 21 Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Advisory Board meeting. She reported the Foundation's current activities at Nash Farm and the Palace Arts Center. She said the CVB board discussed the results of the 31St Annual Main Street Fest, sponsored by the 2 17 JUNE 2015 17 June 2015 Bank of the West, and the 21 breweries from over 10 states for the festival's craft beer experience. 154,032 visitors attended the spring festival. California-based Kubota Tractor Corp. will move its headquarters to Grapevine, citing the area's central location and business-friendly climate. The relocation will bring 344 jobs to the area and also includes Kubota Credit Corp. Kubota will make a $51 million investment in its new headquarters in Grapevine. Frances Jensen attended the May 27 meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission. The Commission reviewed staff approved Certificates of Appropriateness and heard six cases with two of those for Historic Landmark overlays and four cases regarding alterations, additions and new build construction within the Township, VL ADJOURNMENT Pat Stinson, seconded by Melva Stanfield, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:50 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: None PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE GRAPEVINE HERITAGE FOUNDATION, THE JUNE 17, 2015 MINUTES, ON THIS THE 15TH DAY OF JULY, 2015.
