The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors met at 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor
Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were NO citizen comments.
David Klempin introduced Betsy Deiterman as the Heritage Preservation Programs
intern for the next six months. Her internship here will satisfy academic requirements
for the master's program at Texas Tech University as she plans to graduate on
December 11, 2015. Welcome, Betsy.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Janet Perkins made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the April 15, 2015
meeting; Pat Stinson seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and
Vaughn)
Nays: (None)
Absent: (Hewlett)
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Janet Perkins reported the Foundation currently has 189 active memberships, four
renewal letters were sent out this month and a $100 donation was received.
The post office's delivery of 26 membership renewal payments, missing for 11 months
was discussed. Council Liaison Mike Lease asked staff to pursue setting up payment
for membership dues to be paid online to avoid missing mail and the confusion and time
incurred.
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the April attendance numbers for interpretive
programs, group tours and the volunteer hours for the month. The month of April, with
the Spring Into Nash (SPIN) event, adult and school groups, and interpretive
programming had 1,779 visitors to the Farm. Farm Manager Jim Lauderdale reported
the SPIN event financials. Balla Wright said seeking sponsorships needed to begin
earlier before the two main events each year.
City Council Liaison Mike Lease told the board, at the previous night's meeting, the City
Council had approved their request to repaint the Farmhouse.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Janet Perkins announced the committee for the Foundation's calendar would begin
meeting soon to discuss the content and budget for the new venture.
Frances Jensen reported she and Kayte Roberts would co-chair the Annual Candlelight
Tour again for 2015. They will meet for their second time tonight after this meeting
adjourns.
VI. LIAISON REPORTS
Curtis Ratliff reported the Grapevine Historical Society's April 27 program was about the
mothers buried in the Grapevine Cemetery who had sons and grandsons who served in
the Civil War (1861-1865). The speaker was well known and renowned local historian,
Michael Patterson.
Sue Franks attended the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) board
meeting. She reported the members discussed seeking a way to honor Don Bigbie for

his many years of service to the City of Grapevine and the 25 years he was on the CVB
board, serving most of those years as the Chairman. Luke Wolford, a new member of
the Festivals & Events team was introduced to the board. New business, the Public Art
fund and new features for Main Street Fest 2015 sponsored by Bank of the West, were
discussed.
Frances Jensen attended the April 22 meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission.
She reported on the architect's plans for restoration of the Foust Funeral Home.
Sue Franks announced the Active Adults senior group would be performing the next day
at 11:45 a.m. for the grand opening of Grapevine's new physical fitness center, The
REC.
Mike Lease announced Mark & Melva Stanfield would be the co-chairs for the 2016
Main Street Fest event.
VLADJOURNMENT
Pat Stinson, seconded by Melva Stanfield, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at
5:55 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Jensen, Perkins
and Vaughn)
