The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors met at 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the Grapevine Convention &Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor
Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were NO citizen comments.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Don Vaughn made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the March 18, 2015
meeting; Melva Stanfield seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Perkins and Vaughn)
Nays: (None)

IV. OLD BUSINESS
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the Foundation currently has 189 active
memberships. Melva noted the heavy attendance for the Easter Egg Hunt and
complimented the Parks & Recreation Department for an excellent job of cleaning up
afterwards. The wagon rides at the Easter Egg Hunt yielded $863 in donations.
Chairman Curtis Ratliff said the hunt brings many people to Grapevine.
Jim Lauderdale reported the Spring Into Nash (SPIN) coupon booth would be set in
place this afternoon and set-up preparations would begin the next day at 1 p.m. with
loading the box truck with tables and Curtis picking up the hay bales; Ross Bannister
and Don Vaughn were responsible for the signage and banners; and Balla was in
charge of the cleaning crew to ready the house. Volunteer Martin Dingemanse had
sheared one of the sheep yielding seven pounds of fleece; he will shear another to
demonstrate during SPIN.
Janet Perkins reported on her meeting with the City Manager to discuss application for
a National Endowment for the Humanities Grant. They will apply for a more favorable
grant to be posted in August 2015.
V. NEIN BUSINESS
Melva announced the presentation to be considered for the 2015 Preservation
Advocacy Awards. David Klempin presented the proposed recipients for the 2015
awards:
Advocacy Award to Marty Sabota for journalism promoting heritage events;
Conservation Award to Bobby Flanagan for Nash Farm agriculture heritage;
Grapevine Township Project to Evon & Michael Harris at 404 East Worth Street;
Infill New Construction Award to Larry Marshall at 232 Austin Street;
Sharing the Vision to Pam Price for "170 Years of Grapevine History" program; and
Rehabilitation Project Award to Crystal Stom at 1213 Terrace Drive, Bellaire.
Sue Franks made the motion to approve the 2015 recipients as presented; Pat Stinson
seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannis, Franks, Perkins
and Vaughn)
Nays: (None
Absent: (Hewlett and Jensen)
VI. LIAISON REPORTS
Janet Perkins reported on the Grapevine Historical Society's March 23 meeting.
Historian and author, Paul Kramer spoke on "The Providential History of Texas."
He is a native Texan born in Austin and a descendant of Stephen F. Austin. He spoke
on the history of Texas with many items for display and an array of old maps showing
our history.

Balla Wright reported on the Grapevine Convention &Visitors (CVB) Bureau Advisory
Board's March 19 meeting. The CVB had two new staff members: Jack Bateman, Sales
Manager and Daniel Horsch, Digital Marketing Manager. The Assistant Director Michael
Woody has left the CVB. Thomas the Train tickets sold out on the first day of sales,
Ross Bannister reported on the March 25 Historic Preservation Commission meeting.
Staff approved Certificates of Appropriateness; an application for Historic Landmarking
of 412 E. Franklin Street was approved to now go before the City Council; plans were
approved with conditions for the 234 E. Franklin Street; and the Joe Teakell mid-century
home was approved for an addition.
Chairman Ratliff called on Ross Bannister and Frances Jensen to co-chair a
preservation committee; Ross agreed.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Pat Stinson, seconded by Melva Stanfield, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at
6:45 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Perkins
and Vaughn)
Nays: {None
Absent: (Hewlett and Jensen)
