1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 pm on December 1, 2015
at The REC of Grapevine.
The following members were present:
Dick Guckel, Chairperson
Tena Burrell, Co-Chairperson
Dr. Alexander Graham
Duff O'Dell, City Council Member Liaison
Trent Kelley, Recreation Facilities Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
Karen Rice, Housing Authority
Paul Ernst
Kay Blanding
Pam Price
Maryann Waddell, GRACE

3. Consideration of minutes for October 6, 2015 meeting
Approved
4. Citizen Requests
Kay Blanding: In last meeting Kay asked if there could be a section in the
newsletter about the passing of any Senior participant.
Answer was no due to privacy and space issues.
Joetta King: Inquired about donations for the free senior classes, or if there should
be fees. She had a few questions, issues and then recommendations.
Trent Kelley answered to what she was asking about.

5. New Business
a. Duff O'Dell
-Grapevine Historical meeting will be held at The REC
-City Council meeting tonight
-Election Runoff Tuesday, December 8
-Parade of Lights is Thursday, December 3 at 7:30pm
-Light Show on Main maybe up by December 3
-Parks and Vineyard Campgrounds are closed due to flooding
-Lights on Main looks great
b. Grapevine Housing Authority-Karen Rice
-During the 28 October GHA meeting the Commissioners reviewed the
2016 operating budget and requested a few minor changes. The group will
take approval action at the upcoming December 3 meeting.
-The GHA Resident Advisory Board will have the resident Christmas
party December 11 at the Botanical Gardens Mitchell House from 11 am
until 2pm.
-(Tena)The voucher program? Turnover should be the I" of the year,as it
should not impact residents.
-There is a meeting for the residents about the change and is going
to be informative and not to worry them.
c. Maryann Waddell-GRACE
-Friends and Family program:
-Total clients: October 106/November 107
-Total commodities delivered: October 96/November 93
-Volunteer hours: October 99.5 /November-still totaling
-Total Matches: October 25 /November 26 (highest#)
-New Clients: October 0/November 1
-New Commodities Clients: October 0/November 1
-New Matches (senior with volunteer): October 1 /November 1
-New Volunteers: October 2 /November 1
-Partnering with Women's Division of Grapevine Chamber to visit seniors
that are shut in and would like a friendly visit
-Delivered groceries, wheel chairs, shower chairs, walkers, and canes,
jackets, nightgowns to homebound seniors and disabled as needed
-Helping seniors and disabled with financials and clothing as needed
-Grace volunteers deliver commodities monthly to those clients who sign
up for this program. For the November commodities, the clients are each
given a turkey and all the fixings.
-Partnering with Cannon Elementary in making Christmas Cards
-Women's Division of the Chamber partners with GRACE to help senior
GRACE clients receive Christmas gifts
-Passed out fliers for GRACE Christmas Cottage

-Near end of completion for the REC
-Shuffle board outside the Events Hall is complete
-Leaks from the rain are being fixed. Letters to Santa are in progress
-Vineyard Campgrounds will be closed through January maybe even longer
-We have over 17,000 members signed up at The REC
e. Eileen Hinson—Active Adults
-Donations for Santa Shop for Cannon Elementary;jewelry, ceramics and
things from home for the kids to buy for families
-Took a group to the Gaylord ICE
-Taking a few trips to the Dallas Arboretum, Christkindl, Gift of Christmas
and Littlest Wiseman
-Annual Christmas Party for seniors is Tuesday, December 22 at Austin
Ranch
-New program starting in January: Aging Mastery Program, 10 week program
every Thursday. Passed a flyer out
f. Dick Guckel
-FOGSAC is providing$15 Walmart gift cards for the seniors at the
Christmas Party.
6. The meeting adjourned at 4:25 pm.
