Gentlemen,
I have completed the revised plans review for the project. There are some items that have come to light that will need to
be addressed but I did not want to hold up the project for these so the plans are approved and all the other department
approvals are have been completed to issue the plans.
The primary needs for clarification concern the walls that are designed to be rated assembly's, the mechanical fire /
smoke dampers for penetration of these walls, the second floor mechanical chase and the exterior bearing walls headers
/ beams.
Please see sheets A111 and A121; the designs provide for rated enclosures at the stairwell #1 and the rooms adjoining
on the first level. These rated walls are not complete by the tag numbers and the stairwell is not rated at second level. If
this stairwell is rated for egress distance or other purpose the entire stairwell is to be rated. The rooms surrounding the
stairwell on first floor are incomplete. Please have designer clarify this area for rated assembly's and add ratings to the
elevator shaft, elevator equipment room and the duct chase'(s).
I do not see any fire / smoke dampers for the first floor system at deck or where penetrating chase walls, sheets M101
and M102. The other walls shown to be rated on first floor do not have all the dampers on plans if these walls are
indeed to be rated.
The mechanical chase running from deck to first level is in conflict with the second level file room.
I do not see the header / beam details for exterior walls at windows / doors.
The last item needing attention is sheet A-641, the door schedule. This sheet is not included on revised sets. Please
provide sheet to include correct ratings for doors that are opening protection for rated walls, hardware details,
comments that doors are openable from egress side without use of key, special effort or knowledge and other details
included within the door schedules.
I believe this covers the primary elements still needed for the plans. Please include any other details as needed.
Thank you,
Allen Hunt
