CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES
Consider approval of the minutes of the January 21, 2016 meeting and take any necessary action.

The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine,Texas met in regular session on this
21 st day of April 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3840 Fairway Drive, with the
following members present:
Gary Davis Member
Louis Capone Member
Bryan Humphreys Member
Tom Kormondy Member

Jonathan Wall Member(absent)
Constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff:
Russell Pulley Director of Golf
Mike Lease City Council Member
Robert Singletary Head Golf Professional
Merlin Tielkemeier Superintendent
CALL TO ORDER
Danny Langley called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
ITEM I — Summary of Golf Operations 211 Quarter
Russell Pulley discussed the Executive Summary details,for the 2""quarter (handout)
ITEM 2—Flood Pro'ect update restrooms bridges debris bunkers
Russell reported that the Mockingbird crossing had been completed debris cleanup started, and
the resetting of the restroom with only cosmetic work around building itself needing completion.
The crossing for Bluebonnet was to begin in the next few weeks.
ITEM 3— Wall of Honor pjagues and Ceremonies Phil Parker and Michelle Isbell
Ceremony_for Phil Parker: need commitment from all.for date and time for presentation. Friday
May 13, 11:00 was the date selected The plaque for Michelle to be shipped and ceremony in
June, date TBD.
ITEM 4—2016 Instructional Program update
Robert Singletary outlined the new Junior League team golf program. Robert also outlined the
upcoming year around Junior Golf Academy to begin in the fall. Also discussed was REC
programming and Bryan Humphreys'school visit introduction to golf program.
ITEM 5 Discussion of expanding practice facilities,Bunkers,pitching areas, new putting
green_complex,and Par 3 course)
Bryan Humphreys led the discussion of future plans of Bunker repair, new pitching and short
game area,putting complex, and par 3 short course. These items were discussed and made note
that they had all been discussed as being a potential part of the Long Range 5 year + Plan
ITEM 6 —Repairing Mockingbird 46 Fairway
Bryan Humphreys discussed the damage to #6 Fairway from the crane used to reset the restroom
that was brought down 46 Mockingbird fairway. Merlin discussed continuing to roll the fairway
while wet to help level out but that most likely some fill and sodding would need to be done.
ITEM 7—Construction of new forward tee on hole#4 Pecan
Bryan Humphreys brought up the discussion of building a new forward tee to the right of the
current forward tee to help improve the playability of the hole.
ITEM 8 Free Golf Instruction Days throughout the year.
Bryan Humphreys discussed having free instructional days throughout the year to help promote
the game and the facility.
ITEMS Minority Outreach Program:
Bryan Humphreys discussed the involvement of the golf course in entering the schools to help
introduce the game to kids that might not otherwise ever have the opportunity to be introduced to
the game of gol f,
ITEM 10 Possible Field trip with GCISD Elementary Schools
Bryan Humphreys discussed visiting the elementary.schools to talk and introduce gol f to the
kids. Maybe every having the kids come to the golf course as part of afield trip,
ITEM 11 Golf Course Maintenance report
Merlin discussed the mild winter. He also discussed the cool early spring temps as causing the
greens to be a little late in greening up through the transition period from winter. He commented
the recent rain and warmer temps have helped with the transition process. Tom Kormondy
discussed the signage to the front entrance and Russell shared the possibilities similar to the
signage that matched the theme of the other City parks within Grapevine. Will try to put in 2016-
17 budget,for the upcoming year. Merlin mentioned that there was more sod to lay on #2
Mockingbird,, around greenside bunker and around restroom and new crossing area on
Mockingbird The City Public Yorks dept is going to build a wall around the restroom,
Danny Langley brought up putting a drop zone on #2 Bluebonnet to help speed up play. He also
discussed t painting the liners of the cups to improve the visibility of the hole while putting.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Consideration to approve the minutes from the January 21, 2016 meeting were approved with
Tom Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Louie Capone.seconded the
motion. All in Favor: all
