The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will be held on August 17, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the
Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2"d Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.

Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau,
2r,d Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
Mike Lease introduced Becky Hummer as the newly appointed board member; Becky
will take the oath of office with those members reappointed at the next meeting of the
board.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were NO citizen comments.
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation
Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or
taking action during Citizen Comments.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the June 15,
2016 meeting; Don Vaughn seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield and Perkins)
IV. OLD BUSINESS
David Klempin reported on membership for Janet Perkins in her absence. He reported
191 active members currently, with 23 renewal invoices mailed; donations of $100 and
three personalized bricks sold at $100 each. Secretary Pat Stinson suggested expired
memberships should have letters printed for the next meeting for board members to
write personal invitations to renew for those members they know.
Cody Jolliff reported nine tours totaling 240 guests for the month of June. Treasurer
Balla Wright asked Cody to email out, at the first of each month, a schedule to the board
and volunteers to sign up for upcoming volunteer positions available.
NEW BUSINESS
David Klempin presented a draft for the board's consideration and to take any
necessary action for the fiscal year 2016-17 budget as proposed. Council Liaison Mike
Lease, discussed the lawn maintenance and upkeep on the Farmhouse. David noted
the amount budgeted for stroller friendly trails to be developed; he also said the
proposed budget was less than the previous year and budgeted as the Farm does
more, the income will increase.
Chairman Ratliff said the proposed budget was comparable to the previous year's
numbers. Councilman Lease also noted the Convention & Visitors Bureau's support for
heritage programs; and the new format for the proposed budget as more clear to study.
Pat Stinson made the motion to accept the proposed budget as presented; Don
Vaughn seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield and Perkins)
Balla Wright and Cody Jolliff presented the sponsorship level requests they were
working on with Amy Stirman. Balla said she was now working with a large sponsor;
the petting zoo and wagon rides should warrant two sponsorships each. All agreed
sponsoring a specific item would give sponsors more ownership in the event.

Cody presented the board with the idea, supported by a poster, for a Nash Farm Barn
Dance. The board was supportive of this project. He also discussed a pie auction for
the event. Balla suggested visiting with a square dance club and Frances Jensen said
the city REC center offered square dancing lessons.
Don Vaughn made the motion to approve the sponsorship and fundraising requests as
presented; Balla Wright seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield and Perkins)
Chairman Ratliff proposed a Grapevine Heritage Foundation high school scholarship be
set for a Future Farmers of America, agriculture, anthropology or general history student
pursuing higher education or an oral history project. Curtis said he had discussed with
retired Grapevine High School teacher, Margaret Telford. Councilman Lease agreed
saying the school's educational program will handle for you and complete the follow-up
required.
Balla Wright made the motion to establish a committee to study the criteria for a
scholarship and move forward; Pat Stinson seconded the motion, which prevailed in the
following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield and Perkins)
VI. LIAISON REPORTS
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) June 16, 2016 Meeting — Paula Newman reported
new staff for the CVB, the Main Street Fam's had been a success with great
attendance, Sister City West Lothian's culinary students are scheduled to compete in a
cook-off with the Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District students, the CVB
marketing group are ready for GrapeFest 2016, the upcoming mid-August Travel Media
Showcase will be an all staff effort for this group of travel publishers, writers and
bloggers. The Connect Meeting Planners conference will follow. The Summer Blast
dinosaur event has been successful with 9,000 visitors attending to date; merchants
and restauranteurs had supported the dinosaur event.
Paula reported the Palace Arts Center had been power-washed with special care to
avoid the zinc veneers; they are now ready to replace the carpets with an identical
match (not faded), requests for bids for the marquee restoration, the stage walls and
dock area have been freshly painted. The Christmas Capital in July sale sold 1 ,200
tickets on the first day, with the Saturday before Christmas Day is near sold out and
seven of the Texas Tenor's performances.

Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) June 22, 2016 Meeting — Curtis Ratliff
reported on the pre-meeting Recognition of 25 Years of Service event for Chairman Burl
Gilliam; Council Liaison Mike Lease also noted the event. Curtis reported on the HPC
meeting for the case regarding 626 East Wall Street for the restoration and addition to
the existing structure; he said the builder is meeting the right HPC needs for the
Township.
Grapevine Historical Society (GHS) June 27, 2016 Meeting —
Balla Wright reported there was no June meeting for the Historical Society.
Balla added, the 2017 Calendar committee and the Candlelight Tour of Homes
committee had each met this month.
Don Vaughn confirmed his resignation from the board, he and Barbara are now 81
years of age, and moving to the Parc Place Retirement Community in Bedford; he said
he would still be available to work events. Chairman Ratliff thanked him for his many
years of service, expertise and all he had given. Councilman Lease, Pat and Balla all
thanked him for his many good works.
VL ADJOURNMENT
Balla Wright, seconded by Pat Stinson, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:10
p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield and Perkins)
