The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will be held on April 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the
Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors met at 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau,
2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were NO citizen comments.
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation
Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or
taking action during Citizen Comments.

Ill. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Melva Stanfield made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the January 20,
2016 meeting; Pat Stinson seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Franks, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Jensen and Perkins)
IV. OLD BUSINESS
David Klempin reported the Foundation currently has 186 active memberships, with four
renewals billed in February.
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the Nash Farm activities for the month of
February with four special events with 93 attending and eight volunteers working a total
of 40 hours.
NEW BUSINESS
Chairman Curtis Ratliff introduced the new Nash Farm Manager, Cody Jolliff; he asked
Cody to tell the board of his recent work experience. Cody told all he had worked with
programs in Fort Gibson, the Cherokee Strip and Enid, Oklahoma. He had worked with
a small staff force for daily operations of school tours by grade level such as the third
grade class studies were Pioneer Life; fourth grade and on for special exhibits. He said
he worked with an active crew of 50 volunteers, using two volunteers in the morning and
another two for afternoon and evening functions. Cody stated he had always been
passionate about history and began volunteering when he was 14 years old.
Balla Wright reported on securing two $1,000 sponsors with a goal of obtaining $5,000
in sponsorships for the Spring Into Nash event.
Sue Franks, the Speaker's Bureau committee chair, asked David Klempin for his help
with a PowerPoint presentation and tweaking the dialogue for specifics noting the
different functions of the Historical Society, Heritage Foundation and the Historic
Preservation Commission's mission and functions. Chairman Ratliff agreed this was a
good idea and could be beneficial for all groups to join and support one another.
No Action was taken.
Paula Newman, Managing Director of Operations, gave the update for improvements
completed and scheduled for the Palace Theatre and Lancaster in the Palace Arts
Center.
Review of the Vision, Mission & Core Values Statement— Grapevine has reported since
1984 for the Texas Main Street Program and has met the requirements of an annual
report; fees due; and a score of 89 or higher for increased eligibility as a National Main
Street City. The program requires a review every two years. This action item is not a

review for the Foundation, but as the Main Street Program board. Chairman Ratliff
called for any questions.
Don Vaughn moved to ratify; Pat Stinson seconded the motion, which prevailed in the
following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Franks, Stinson and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Jensen and Perkins)
VI. LIAISON REPORTS
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) February 18, 2016 Meeting —
Balla Wright complimented Brady Clossom for his report on the sales team's Mission
Possible project. She explained it was a three drop approach to 300 meeting planners.
The (1) first drop would be a magnifying (spy) glass, followed by a (2) second drop of a
spy pen you can plug in to listen, plus as a camera; and the (3) third drop of a book size
telephone book with video of sales team members Connie Ash and Eleanor George
programmed to know when the planner opens the book so Connie and Eleanor can be
contacted for information.
Balla also reported the addition of three new shuttle shelters-two on Main Street and
one at Uncle Bucks Brewery & Steakhouse; and new security lighting on Main Street.
Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) February 24, 2016 Meeting —
In Janet Perkin's absence, David Klempin reported on the Commission voted 7 — 0 to
not remove the historic overlay on the property at 426 East Texas Street. Chairman
Ratliff reported on the Historic Preservation Commission's review of Kosse Maykus'
plan to build seven 2,400 square feet garden homes on East Wall Street.
Grapevine Historical Society (GHS) February 22, 2016
Pat Stinson will report on the February 22 and March 28, 2016 meetings at the April
meeting.
Chairman Ratliff called for any final comments, Don Vaughn noted the Nash Farmhouse
and grounds Christmas decorations worked well at the Farm; and Sue Franks stated
how wonderful the Farmer's Market's permanent location on Main Street had been
received.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Don Vaughn, seconded by Sue Franks made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:40
p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Franks, and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Jensen and Perkins)
