" Kehih Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met January 21, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administration Conference Room, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Ray Harris, Chairman Roy Robertson John Dalri Terry Musar Krystyna Plut Debra Tridico Gary Humble Dave Buhr With the following member absent: Larry Francis LIAISONS Paul Slechta (City Council) Becky St. John (GCISD) Abby Sandy (Student — GHS) Constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Kevin Mitchell Director Chris Smith Deputy Director Scott Hardeman Athletics Manager The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Dave Buhr and seconded by John Dalri to approve the December 17, 2015 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Citizen Requests Don Mayo was present to ask questions and give his input for the Trail Master Plan. New Business A) Consider Approval of the following renewal Adopt -An -Area Agreement Dave Buhr CFP, from Hall Johnson Road to Highway 121 to Parr Lane A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to approve the renewal Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None B) Trail Master Plan • Kevin Mitchell presented the current Master Trail Plan Map, which included existing trails, existing sidewalks, possible future trails, and an H2O trail. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by John Dalri to approve the current Trail Master Plan map. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Athletics — Scott Hardeman reported on the following: Youth basketball has 245 registered teams, which makes it the largest season to date. Athletics is hosting the TAAF Region 4 Youth Basketball Tournament on March 4 — 6. Park Maintenance — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: The REC multi -use field is near completion with only a few items left, which include restroom hook-up and lightening prediction system. The Sunshine Harbor Park renovation has begun. The Municipal Trail that wraps around The REC, Library, and The Convention Center is 80% complete. The south side is currently under construction and is expected to be finished in one week. Recreation — Chris Smith reported on the following: The REC Aquatics Center received routine maintenance, and had two ADA accessibility lifts installed. Pickle ball demo days will begin at The REC in February. AARP tax aide will be available for active adults 55 & better every Wednesday through April. Special Events — Chris Smith reported on the following: Daddy/Daughter Dance will be held on January 29 & 30 at Compass Center. The annual Easter Egg Hunt is approaching on March 19 at Nash Farm. The Vineyards Campground met the criteria for number of surveys, which allowed them to be one of only 34 parks in the country that have qualified to receive a 2015 Best Rated Park Award, and the only park to receive this award for 9 consecutive years. Miscellaneous Board Items (No action taken) Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGVB) — Dave Buhr reported on the following: The next KGVB meeting will be held on February 1 at Wise Guys Pizza. Open positions with KGVB include additional committee members, and the Educational Chairman. The Household Hazardous Waste Event will be on Saturday, March 26 from 8 — 11:30 am at the Service Center. GCISD Report — Becky St. John reported on the following: The GCISD Board of Trustees Meeting is Thursday, January 28. High School Student (GHS) Report — Abby Sandy reported the following: The GHS Student Council raised $600 for a school in Garland that needed assistance due to tornado damage. Theatre will be putting on the show "Catch Me If You Can" on January 29 & 30 and February 5 & 6, all show start times are 7 pm. The Fillie Trot is Saturday, January 30 at Church at the Cross. Boys & Girls basketball are currently in district season games. Adjourn Motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Dave Buhr to adjourn the meeting at 7:19 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
