Ke in Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met December 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administrative Conference Room, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Ray Harris, Chairman Roy Robertson Larry Francis John Dalri Terry Musar Debra Tridico Christian Ross Dave Buhr With the following member absent: Krystyna Plut LIAISONS Paul Slechta (City Council) Jorge Rodriguez (GCISD) Tatum Tellin (GHS) Constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Kevin Mitchell Chris Smith Kathy Nelson Cindy Harris The meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Director Deputy Director Capital Improvement Projects Manager Volunteer Services Liaison Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Dave Buhr and seconded by Roy Robertson to approve the November 17, 2016 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Debra Tridico, Christian Ross, and Dave Buhr. Nays— None Absent — Krystyna Plut Citizen Comments There were no citizen comments. New Business Consider approval of the following renewal Adopt -An -Area agreements: Magnus LaDue, Jean Titus, Goldberg Family, Vineyard Dental, Matthew Goldberg & Friends, Starr -Hancock Family, Parker Family, Mad Duck Cycling, Box Insurance, Boy Scout Troop 4, Gaylord Texan Resort, Grapevine Heritage AMBUCS, Grapevine AMBUCS, Allen Family, NE Neighborhood, Western Oaks II HOA, Murrell Road Residents, Grapevine Dirty Dozen, Camp Sonshine, Cochran Family, 1800 Got Junk, and Coveys Promotions A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the renewal Adopt -An -Area agreements. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Debra Tridico, Christian Ross, and Dave Buhr. Nays— None Absent — Krystyna Plut Presentation Kevin Mitchell gave a presentation on the new Parks & Recreation website, which included two parts: WebTrac for registrations and the interactive site. PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Athletics, Chris Smith reported on the following: There were 6 fall softball & baseball tournaments and 3 tennis tournaments. The Fieldhouse grand opening is next month with 225 teams registered for winter basketball. Capital Projects, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: The greenhouse grand opening will be in January. The Bear Creek Dog Park is also being worked up by a geo-tech team. Lake Parks/Events, Kevin Mitchell & Chris Smith reported on the following: Daddy Daughter Dance tickets go on sale December 19 and the event will have three different sessions on January 27 & 28. Oak Grove playground has been removed and the new one will be set up in a higher elevation. Shade structures are being installed throughout the lake parks. The Vineyards playground is almost complete. The west restroom and storage buildings have arrived. Meadowmere gatehouse and rental buildings were both set. There is a Katie's Woods Park public meeting on December 19 to discuss park improvements. Parks Maintenance, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: 2 Tony Steele received the Parks Professional of the year award from TRAPS. The athletic field maintenance staff received the soccer field of the year award for Oak Grove from Texas Turfgrass Association. Staff is maintaining Christmas decorations in the City and working throughout the lake parks. Recreation, Chris Smith reported on the following: Jennifer Kashner received the Recreation Professional of the year award from TRAPS. The PlayGrapevine Spring 2017 issue is now in homes. Volunteerism, Chris Smith reported on the following: There will be a volunteer recognition brunch on February 4; invitations will be sent out. Miscellaneous Board Items (No action taken) GCISD Report — Jorge Rodriguez reported on the following: The Lego league qualifier, the Leadership Academy, assessment for dyslexia services, and the school grading through Texas Education Agency is approaching. GHS Report — Tatum Tellin reported on the following: Volleyball & football have ended. Girls basketball is playing Birdville and the boys have a home game. The Interact Club through Rotary will be participating in Santa Cops. Finals are occurring before Winter break. Adjourn Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn the meeting at 7:02 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
