The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met November 17, 2016 at
6:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administrative Conference Room, 1175 Municipal
Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

With the following member absent:

Jorge Rodriguez (GCISD)
Tatum Tellin (GHS)
Constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff:
Kevin Mitchell Director
Chris Smith Deputy Director
Trent Kelley Recreation Manager
Carlos Flores Fitness Coordinator
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
A moment of silence was observed.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Dave Buhr to approve the
October 20, 2016 minutes. Motion passed 8-0.
Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna
Plut, Debra Tridico, and Dave Buhr.
Nays— None
Absent — Christian Ross
Citizen Comments
There were no citizen comments.
New Business
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to appoint
Tatum Tellin as the Student Ex -Officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory
Board. Motion passed 8-0.
Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna
Plut, Debra Tridico, and Dave Buhr.
Nays— None
Absent — Christian Ross
Presentation
Trent Kelley & Carlos Flores gave a presentation over The REC fitness classes,
personal trainers, and the Preva cardio challenge.
PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken)
Athletics, Chris Smith reported on the following:
JV tennis tournament, Fall tennis classic, USSSA Turkey Jamboree is the last
tournament at Oak Grove this weekend, & Fieldhouse USA will be opening in January.
Capital Projects, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
SH 114 Phase I & II, FEMA projects that need to be completed by April 30, Bear Creek
Dog Park, landscape/irrigation at the public safety building, Wall Farrar Nature Trail, and
the greenhouse.
Lake Parks, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
The pavilion at Vineyards Campground, Meadowmere Park, and Lakeview restrooms.
The Father/Son Amazing Race event was awarded the Lonestar Programming award
by TRAPS. The Vineyards hosted tours from the RV convention. Upcoming events are
Carol of Lights, Daddy Daughter Dance, and Winter Wonderland Pool Party.
Parks Maintenance, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
Tony Steele was awarded the Parks Professional of the year award by TRAPS.
Recreation, Chris Smith reported on the following:
Jennifer Kashner was awarded the Recreation Professional of the year award by
TRAPS.
Volunteerism, Chris Smith reported on the following:
Meadowmere beach restoration project.
Miscellaneous Board Items (No action taken)
GCISD Report — Jorge Rodriguez reported on the following:
Leadership academy for the district, Cannon Elementary president's award, parent
survey, new travel buses, and the parking lot at GHS.
Adjourn
Motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn the meeting
at 6:50 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
