The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met September 22, 2016 at
6:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administrative Conference Room, 1175 Municipal
Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m.
A moment of silence was observed.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the
August 18, 2016 minutes. Motion passed 8-0.
Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra
Tridico, Christian Ross, and Dave Buhr.
Nays— None
Absent — John Dalri
Citizen Comments
There were no citizen comments.
Presentation
Kevin Mitchell gave a presentation over Fieldhouse Grapevine USA. Fieldhouse
Grapevine USA has partnered with Simon Property Group, Inc. and the City to build the
new facility into Grapevine Mills Mall. Items shared and discussed included a marketing
video, the schematic design, floor plan, and amenities/features of the facility.
PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken)
Athletics, Scott Hardeman reported on the following:
GrapeFest Tennis Class Tournament had 290 entries. Youth basketball and youth
volleyball are entering into the last season before Fieldhouse Grapevine USA opens.
Capital Projects, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
Bear Creek Dog Park concept plan, Kubota Drive landscape design, SH 114 Phase II &
III, Rockledge Park concept plan, Wall Farrar Park, Monarch Butterfly rehab area, and
the greenhouse at the Botanical Gardens.
Lake Parks, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
The Vineyards Campground is open, and the first new building to be delivered in a few
weeks.
Parks Maintenance, Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
Staff has been working on The Vineyards Campground, festivals and special events.
Recreation, Chris Smith reported on the following:
The new deck at The REC aquatics center, as well as the maintenance that occurred
during the week long closure. PARD and Fire Dept. received an Outstanding
Community Partner award for April Pools Day. Other events reported were Doggie Dive -
In, Fourth Friday Film Series, RISE End of Summer Bash, Fossil Fest, Spooktacular
Swim, Sunset Concert Series, and GrapeYard. The RecTrac upgrade will launch in
2017.
Volunteerism, Chris Smith reported on the following:
City staff, DORBA, and REI, are cleaning Katie's Woods. Faith Christian School is
volunteering at The Vineyards Campground and Botanical Gardens. City staff and
GCISD are working on an environmental educational program. Upcoming events: Trash
& Treasures, fall plant sale, tree sharing kick-off and butterfly flutterby.

GCISD Report — None.

Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the
meeting at 7:11 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
