Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by John Dalri to approve the February 18, 2016 minutes. Motion passed 9-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Citizen Requests There were no citizen requests. New Business Consider approval of the following renewal Adopt -An -Area Agreement: • North Texas Orthopedics for the north side of Ira E. Woods, between Kimball Road &'h mile west A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Gary Humble to approve the renewal Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion passed 9-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Consider approval of the following new Adopt -An -Area Agreement • Lake Grapevine Runners & Walkers Club for Horseshoe Trails A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Terry Musar to approve the new Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion passed 9-0. Ayes — Ray Harris, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble, and Dave Buhr Nays— None PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Parks Maintenance — Tony Steele, Bryan George, & Rusty Walker reported on the following: The construction and installation of the Sunshine Harbor Park renovation continues; items given an update on include concrete work, playground structure, and drainage. Travel Sports and Nations Baseball are hosting the Saint Patties tournament at Oak Grove Ballfield Complex this weekend with 86 teams, therefore the athletic fields are being prepped. Grapevine Baseball Softball Association (GBSA) will begin next weekend, March 26. The new goals are to be set in the basketball courts at Parr Park in approximately one week. Athletics — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: The annual TAAF state youth basketball tournament for boys and girls ages 8U and 14U will be held this upcoming weekend. Spring youth volleyball games begin this Saturday with a total of 19 teams signed up. Capital Projects — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: Wall Farrar Nature Trail, the Greenhouse project at the Botanical Gardens (approved at City Council on March 15), application for a grant from TP&W has been sent for phase I for Rockledge Park, and the SH 114 irrigation and landscape improvements. Lake Parks — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: City Council approved the purchase of 6 new lake parks buildings. The Vineyards Campground & Cabins restoration and clean-up effort is well underway. Recreation — Chris Smith reported on the following: The new spraypad at The REC is almost complete. The REC hosted spring break camp this week with a total of 30 children in attendance. The Wettest Egg Hunt event took place last week with over 550 people accounted for. The 1 year anniversary of The REC is approaching on April 25; The REC will host fun activities, prizes, etc on the anniversary date for members. The Gold Medal Award application has been submitted to National Recreation & Parks Society (NRPA). Special Events — Chris Smith reported on the following: The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Nash Farm on Saturday, March 19, April Pools Day Water Safety Expo event, hosted by the Aquatics team, will be held on Friday, April 1, Mother/Son Bonding will be held on Friday, April 22 at Compass Center, and the Tree City USA Award event will be held on Monday, May 30. At the Texas Recreation & Parks Society (TRAPS) conference on March 3, Grapevine PARD received the Lone Star Programming Award for the Fossil Fest event, along with the 2016 Texas Gold Medal Award for overall excellence in the field of Parks & Recreation, and the 2016 Recreation Facility Design Award for The REC of Grapevine. Miscellaneous Board Items (No action taken) Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGVB) — Dave Buhr reported on the following: $150 was raised for KGVB from the fundraiser hosted by Wise Guys Pizzeria over a three day period. "Don't mess with Texas Trash -Off' will be held on Saturday, April 9, and "EPIC Earth Day" in conjunction with the spring plant sale will be held on Saturday, April 16 at the Botanical Gardens. GCISD Report — Becky St. John was not present. High School Student (GHS) Report — Abby Sandy was not present. Adjourn Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m. Motion passed 9-0.
