The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met February 18, 2016 at
6:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administration Conference Room, 1175 Municipal
Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

The meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m.
A moment of silence was observed.

Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Dave Buhr to approve the January
21, 2016 minutes. Motion passed 7-0.

Citizen Requests
Travis Smith, representing Dallas Off -Road Bicycle Association (DORBA), reported the
Horseshoe Trails work day and cleanup effort will be on Saturday, February 20,
New Business
Consider approval of the following renewal Adopt -An -Area Agreement
Grapevine Elks Lodge for Bushong Road from Dooley Street to Ruth Wall Road
A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Dave Buhr to approve the
renewal Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion passed 7-0.

Consider approval of the following new Adopt -An -Area Agreement
• Cub Scout Pack 817 for Hall Johnson Road between Highway 121 and Hughes
Road
A motion was made by Dave Buhr and seconded by John Dalri to approve the new
Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion passed 7-0.

Consider restroom, gatehouse, and storage structure in the Lake Parks
Kevin Mitchell presented picture models of 100% concrete structures for The Vineyards
Campground, Meadowmere Park, and Lakeview Park.
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Terry Musar to approve the
structures. Motion passed 7-0.

PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken)
Park Maintenance — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following:
Updates were given for Wall -Farrar Nature Trail, Sunshine Harbor Park, and the dog
park.
Lake Parks & Special Events — Randy Sell reported on the following:
Assessment/plans post -flood for The Vineyards Campground, Jackson Pavilion rentals
at Rockledge Park are being accepted, dinosaur tracks placement, and summer outdoor
programs. Katie's Woods high water boat ramp is now open. Daddy/Daughter Dance
was held on January 29 &30, Easter Egg Hunt is March 19, Mother/Son bonding 007 is
April 22, Mother/Daughter Tea is May 7, and Father/Son Amazing Race is June 11.
Recreation — Chris Smith reported on the following:
The REC updates include construction of a splash pad, an upright bike was added to
the fitness floor, Baylor Medical will host yoga classes for breast cancer survivors,
AARP tax aide appointments are on-going, and pickleball demos are taking place. The
REC Aquatics Center to host the Wettest Egg Hunt on March 12, and is currently hiring
lifeguards for summer. The TAAF region 4 youth basketball tournament is March 5 — 6
with approximately 100 teams.
Miscellaneous Board Items (No action taken)
Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGVB) — Dave Buhr reported on the following:
Wise Guys Pizzeria will donate 15% of food bill to KGVB on February 22 — 24. Don't
Mess with Texas Trash -Off is April 9 and EPIC Earth Day is April 16.
GCISD Report — Becky St. John was not present.
High School Student (GHS) Report — Abby Sandy reported the following:
The wrestling and swim/dive teams are going to state. Girls' basketball placed first in
districts, and boys' basketball placed second. Spring break for GCISD is March 14 —
18.

Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the
meeting at 7:23 p.m. Motion passed 7-0.
