1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 PM on December 2, 2014
at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:

Kay Blanding:
Everyone is very interested in the presentation over the new center on Monday
December 15 before lunchtime.
4. New Business
a. Joetta King-GHA
-GHA residents will be enjoying a holiday luncheon on Dec 12, 11 am-2pm, at
the Bessie Mitchell House. Turkey, ham,brisket, dressing, rolls and drinks
will be provided and attendees will bring a food dish or condiment.

-All Public Housing units are currently rented. There are 137 persons on the
waiting list which includes 11 Grapevine residents. There are currently 70
Section 8 leased up vouchers. There are 150 persons on the Section 8 waiting
list which includes 7 Grapevine residents.
-Applications for the waiting lists for Section 8 program and Public Housing
program will be accepted on March 11, 2015, 9am-4pm. Applications will be
accepted online. The SAC will have a computer available and assistance will
be offered by GHA staff. Also the library will be allowing applicants to sign
up there. The last opening for Section 8 program waiting list was in 2009. The
Section 8 list was large enough that GHA was unable to house additional
applicants due to funding shortage. The Public Housing list was last open in
2012, and we need to get more Grapevine residents on the list.
-Officer Wade Easley, Crime Prevention Program, recently spoke to the
Resident Advisory Board regarding safety due to recent reports of attempts to
enter housing units. The GHA recently installed LED security lights to help
alleviate the problem.
b. Maryann Waddell-GRACE
-Friends and Family program:
-Total clients: October-120;November-122
-Total commodities delivered: October-101;November-107
-Volunteer hours: October-116;November-still totaling
-Total Matches: October-21;November-22
-New Clients: October-5; November-2
-New Commodities Clients: October-4; November-5
-New Matches (senior with volunteer): October-2; November-1
-New Volunteers: October-1;November-1
-All Friends and Family clients received Thanksgiving turkeys and all the
fixings and were very grateful.
-Friends and Family clients will receive gifts for Christmas thanks to
Grapevine Chamber Women's Division. They organize getting seniors'
wish list,putting these wishes on local Wish Trees, and distributing the
gifts to clients in December.
c. Duff O'Dell
-There is a council meeting tonight, can go online to city website and watch
online streaming of the meetings.
-Christmas Parade is this Thursday, December 4.
d. Trent Kelley-SAC
-Have a marketing group working on the new logo and options for the new
center.
-Monday, December 15 at 11:15am,Kevin Mitchell and Chris Smith will be
doing a presentation at the SAC over the new center with question and answer
period. The seniors will have use of entire building and will not be limited.

-Discussed the potential membership fees for seniors and residents. By
February to March,the fees will be set. Early 2015 there will be a presale for
the new membership signups to the center. Still in talks with SilverSneakers
and having their members have full access to the new center.
e. David Stuckey- SAC
-Held a Veterans Day lunch on November 11. There were 85 meals served.
-Collected items for troops overseas (several boxes and bags full);picked up
November 18 by Colin O'Brien. Coordinated with Grapevine Masonic Lodge
#288 AF and AM, Grapevine Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge#402,
Grapevine Elks Lodge#2403 and the Grapevine VFW Post 10454.
-Currently collecting teddy bears for Women's Center through SCS.
-SAC is a collection site for Santa Cops.
-Several holiday trips planned:
-Ladies trip to Galleria today
-Christkindl Market in Arlington-Friday,December 5
-Sheraton Holiday Dance in Fort Worth- Sunday December 7. Will be a
multicenter dance with Haltom City,Watauga and White Settlement.
-"Gift of Christmas" at Prestonwood Baptist Church-Monday, December8
-Christmas Lights Tour-Monday,December 15
-Gaylord Stroll to see decorations-Tuesday, December 16
-Christmas Party-Thursday, December 18 at Austin Ranch
FOGSAC will be donating$10 Walmart giftcards to every senior
(130 people)
