Lot 13A2, Grapevine, City of, Grapevine, and take any necessary action to the
Grapevine Historic Preservation Ordinance 91-73 (Appendix G -Grapevine Code
of Ordinances).
Chairman Gilliam called on David Klempin to present the case.
BACKGROUND:
Certificate of Appropriateness application #CA14-74 was submitted on November
5, 2014 by the applicant, John Bradley, for a new front porch addition to the
Russell Halstead House at 206 South Church Street at the corner of Wall Street.
Exterior columns would be wood and siding and trim would match the existing.
The owner intends to use the house as a residential rental property. The design
was developed to be compatible with the original house and to follow the City of
Grapevine's Design Guidelines for Historic Residential Structures. While the
existing house is not currently Iandmarked, it is located within the boundary of the
Original Grapevine Township. The proposed new porch and gable roof would
expand the original house foot print; therefore plans must be reviewed by the
Historic Preservation Commission.
Chairman Gilliam called on the property owner, Mrs. Tonya Bradley, for any
comments she would like to share with the Commissioners. Mrs. Bradley said
the gable and porch would match the exterior of the house. She said they had
applied for a permit to remove the overlay siding and would like to raise the six
feet high garage roof, that is presently too low. She said they were renovating the
house to use as a vacation rental home, noting there were only 12 similar rentals
in the city.
