The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors met at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
September 17, 2014 in the Grapevine Convention &Visitors Bureau, 2"d Floor Boardroom,
636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
II. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
III. OATH OF OFFICE
Dr. Curtis Ratliff, Melva Stanfield, Balla Wright, Janet Perkins and Ross Bannister
Melva Stanfield was absent.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the July 16, 2014
meeting; Pat Stinson seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield absent; and Hewlett did not arrive until 4:06 p.m.)

IV. OLD BUSINESS
Janet Perkins updated the group with the current active membership at 193. The committee
will have a membership table at the Fall Round-UPI event.
Chairman Curtis Ratliff updated the group regarding the Nash Farm proposed hours for the
Farm to be open presentation to City Council. The City Council tabled the proposed hours
for more study. Curtis said Farm Manager Jim Lauderdale was putting together further
documents to support the hours the Foundation had put forth.
David Klempin gave the Nash Farm reports with volunteer hours of 152 hours and August
revenues of$1,286 and year to date of$28,067.
V. NEW BUSINESS
David Klempin presented the proposed budget for fiscal year 2015. Discussion followed
with the different accounts and their uses.
Ron Hewlett, seconded by Janet Perkins, offered a motion to accept the fiscal year 2015
budget as presented. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Hewlett, Jensen, Perkins and
Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield)
The date was proposed for the Foundation's Annual Meeting of Membership for Thursday,
November 6 from 5:30—7:30 p.m. at the Nash Farm, 626 Bail Street.
Sue Franks, seconded by Pat Stinson, offered a motion to accept November 6, 2014 from
5:30—7:30 p.m. at the Nash Farm. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Hewlett, Jensen, Perkins and
Vaughn)
Nays: None
Absent: (Stanfield)
The day and time for the Grapevine Heritage Foundation's (GHF) Board of Directors
meeting were discussed. As all committees had been disbanded, except on an ad hoc
basis for specific needs, the group agreed the board should now meet monthly to hear ail
business. They agreed to move the meeting time back to 5 p.m. for those members coming
from work.
Sue Franks, seconded by Ron Hewlett, offered a motion for the GHF Advisory Board to
meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following
vote:
Ayes: All (Ratliff, Wright, Stinson, Bannister, Franks, Hewlett, Jensen, Perkins and
Vaughn)
Nays: None

Chairman Ratliff opened discussion to review the Master Plan for Nash Farm. He presented
each of the members with a copy of the GideonToal Site Plan for Nash Farm dated
December 5, 2000; a copy of the Peggy Riddle 2002 Plan of Accomplishments & Proposed
Goals, accompanied by a 2003 power point of these actions with discussion following. He
also noted the DAEDALUS "Historic Structure Report for the Thomas J. & Elizabeth Nash
Farm" for any who would like to study. Chairman Ratliff asked the members to review to
remind us of where we have come from.
Frances Jensen, Co-Chair for the Candlelight Tour of Homes 2014, reported the 2014 tour
would begin at Ted R. Ware Plaza and viewing the three museums before moving on to the
homes and businesses on the tour. Frances said they were selling advertising pages in the
guidebook and she would visit the Grapevine Historical Society's program seeking
advertising.
David Klempin explained each year the tour homes are a surprise and specifically "not
published" beforehand. He did note the poster cover home for this year's tour would be the
Yancy Farmhouse at 1331 West Wall Street. He told all the home had been restored by
Eric Legge, a former Marine, who had beautifully restored the home and is now using for his
ad-valorem tax firm.
VI. DISTRIBUTION OF LIAISON REPORTS
Grapevine Historical Society Liaison Report-Joe Ann Standlee, President
Joe Ann Standlee reported the Grapevine Historical Society would have their Grand
Opening on November 15 in the Grapevine Ice Company building. There would be a
preview tour for donors who had given $1,000 +.
She said they would permanently close the Depot museum on Sunday evening. She
thanked Shawna Barnes for all of her help and guidance; she thanked the many volunteers
for their hours and thanked the City and P.W.'s group for all their help. The signage will not
come until after the November 15 grand opening. The new museum will be closed on
Mondays and then open six days a week from 10 a.m. —4 p.m..
Joe Ann thanked the CVB for the old fire bell from Jenkins Street and the restored pole from
the American Locker Building. She asked all to mark their calendars for November 15.
Grapevine Convention &Visitors Bureau Liaison Report-Paul W. McCallum
P.W. McCallum noted GrapeFest has become a two week festival beginning with four
separate food and drink pairings; the Italian CarFest at Nash Farm with 2,000 attending; the
Golf Classic benefiting scholarships; the Texas Wine Tribute Dinner benefitting the Metrolex
Food Bank and the annual Tall In Texas award to Becker Winery. The Mayor's Brunch
honored Eye Health Service and AMBUCS for their service. There was also the Tennis
Classic; People's Choice with 154 wines; the Grape Stomp teams with a record 39 ounces
of juice, followed by the Mayoral Stomp with Colleyville producing 26 ounces. Weems Alley
hosted the culinary demonstrations and the Children's Area was expanded. The Passport
Program brought 3,000 children through the Ted R. Ware Plaza. 25 Civic groups worked
the festival gates and booths; there will be a MVV award for the Most Valuable Volunteer
who worked the most shifts at GrapeFest.
The Sister Cities program had 72 delegates of 120+ in their group; there were 18 meeting
planners; and media fams. The Washington Wine Experience had five winemakers who
were interviewed on all the news programs. There was a winemaker from Italy and wines
from Krems, Austria. Sloan Williams Winery at Texas and Jenkins Street is owned by two

veterans; they had their grand opening during the festival. The new Umbra Winery is in the
300 block of Main Street and Messina Hof Winery will be opening in the Wallis Hotel. The
Hospitality Room was sponsored by Salt Lick BBQ.
Don Vaughn asked about the attendance numbers. P.W. said 2006 was the highest
attendance year thus far; 2014 will be the second highest.

Sue Franks, seconded by Pat Stinson, offered a motion to adjourn the meeting at
5:50 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
