1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 PM on December 3, 2013
at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:
Dick Guckel,Chairperson
Tena Burrell,Co-Chairperson
Pam Price
Paul Ernst
Trent Kelley, SAC/CAC Supervisor
Kay Blanding
Carey Miller
Those not present:

3. Consideration of minutes for October 1, 2013 meeting

There were no citizen requests at this time.
5. New Business
a. Roxanne Evans
-Spoke about the Affordable Care Act and the impact on seniors.
b. Tena Burrell

-GRACE and Women's Center are teaming up to receive Christmas gifts to
give to seniors.
c. Carey Miller
-The Empowering Senior Event had 1300 people in attendance.
d. Trent Kelley-SAC
-Christmas Party is Thursday December 12 at the new CVB ballroom.
-Held a catered Thanksgiving meal Wednesday on the 27`h by City Kitchen
-Christmas Lights tour is on the 18`h at Texas Motor Speedway
-Noon Years Eve party on the 31"
-FOPS to Nash Farm and Go Go Girls to Sam Moon
-Bobby took both FOPS/Go Go Girls on his JFK tour last month
-Still working on CAC expansion, will have a meeting with the council on the
17''. 1"week of March is when construction will start. 30 percent of the
construction documents are completed.

-AARP Income Tax will start the first Wednesday of February(5`")
-In January the AARP driving will have changes; new books for instructor and
students,new videos and new fees ($15 member and $20 nonmember).
f. Joetta King-GHA
-GHA resident Christmas Party is being held on December 13 at the Mitchell
House.
-Some of the capital improvements for next year will be new screen doors for
the back doors, cleaning air ducts, mason work and enlarging back porches.
The Boy Scout troop from First United Methodist Church plans to build a
covered patio on Starr Place. We are really excited about this project.
-Section 8 funding for 2014 looks as grim as 2013. Grapevine currently has
72 vouchers and it may be necessary to consider taking a couple more off.
This is a reduction of from the previous 82 vouchers.
