- Friday October 4, 2013 is the Empowering Seniors Event.

b. Roy Stewart
- CAC is progressing, as they are working on specific materials for new
building. The facilities committee is working on the colors, bricks and
stones of the building. The seniors will have a big area. The facilities
committee is made up of 3 council members who work closely with the
Parks/Recreation staff for projects. The first quarter of next year will start
the building, as they will start with the East side of the CAC. The finished
project will be done in 2015.
- The Public Safety building is going to be off Dallas Road by Target,
though that project is just in the beginning phases.
- Meadowood Assisted Living and Memory Care at The Vineyards just had
groundbreaking ceremony. This is a new assisted living facility for
Grapevine near the Delaney Vineyards.
c. Joetta King-Housing Authority
- The Hardie project is completed which included installation of siding,
gutters, turbines and insulation. We will start getting bids for painting the
doors and handrails when the weather cools down. No vacancies in Public
Housing and 75 vouchers out of 83 are leased up. All Housing Authorities
are having funding issues. GHA will need to take a couple more off the
Section 8 program through attrition by the end of the year.
- GHA needs 2 more vouchers to be dropped by the end of this year. They
are hoping it will happen through a change of income for a few people
currently receiving vouchers. If due to reduction in funding it becomes
necessary to reduce vouchers, the people who have been on the list the
longest will be the first to be cut.
d. Pam Price
- The Historical Society will have artifacts from Richard Gano and the Civil
War at the Grapevine Library on Monday August 26,2013 at 7pm.
e. Lara Sundell-GRACE
- Friendly visitor program has matched 5 seniors with new volunteers.
- There are 93 people receiving commodities through Friends and Family.
- The phone-a-friend program has a few volunteers.
- There is a need for tech support to help clients with their computers, but
the tech support people must go through background checks and
orientation.
- Have received fans from TXU, though there was no grant for ac units.
- Was suggested to go to local colleges to find volunteers for various
programs by members of the meeting.
f. Trent Kelley-SAC
- Had computer registration and 25 people signed up onsite. There are
openings in all classes, so people may still call-in.
