1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:35 PM on June 4, 2013 at the
Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:
Tena Burrell, Co-Chairperson
Roy Stewart, City Council Member Liaison
Joetta King, Housing Authority
Pam Price
Trent Kelley, SAC/CAC Supervisor
Paul Ernst
Kay Blanding
Charles Burns
Carey Miller
Others present:
Megan Atkins, Recreation Specialist: Senior Activities Center
Those not present:
Amber Shattuck, GRACE

2. Consideration of minutes for April 2, 2013 meeting
Approved
3. Citizen Requests
Kay Blanding wanted to let everyone know the Go Go Girl's field trip to Klyde
Warren Park in Dallas went really well and had lunch at the food trucks.
4. New Business
a. Roy Stewart
- Met with architect of new center and there is another meeting soon this
month. Council will soon be able to see a 3-dimensional design of new
building.
- Wanted to thank the Senior Center for the volunteer lunch at Saltgrass on
behalf of the GSCAB.

- Dr. Alexander Graham will be joining the GSCAB board soon.
b. Joetta King-GHA
- Passed out a factsheet about the Housing Authority, if anyone has
questions she can have her director come in to answer at next meeting.
- Building work is still in progress and to be finished in late June.
c. Carey Miller-Empowering Seniors
- Passed a flyer about the Empowering Seniors event Friday, October 4,
2013.
- There is a drawing for a new courthouse in Hurst
- Chairman Dick Guckel will spend a day with Commissioner Fickes, as he
won that at an auction.
d. Trent Kelley-SAC
- Dove Waterpark opened a week ago and has attracted many.
- Senior Water Aerobics start Tuesday June 4-August 16
- Expansion project is still underway; there is a facilities committee meeting
this coming Thursday.
- Go Go Girls will take a trip to Irving Heritage Center Friday.
- Father's Day trip to the Ranger's Game on June 11 is free for men.
- Had a Mother's Day Tea Parry with massages,nails and a tea party.
- Going on a Cowboys Stadium Tour on Thursday, June 20 and the SAC
will provide transportation.
- Grapevine will be hosting the Senior Jamboree on September 27, 2013 at
Oak Grove Ballpark. There will be music, games and Bartley's BBQ.
About 300-500 seniors will attend. The commissioner will be attending
the event.

- AARP Driver Safety class will be held at the SAC on July 16; most
insurance companies do provide discounts for taking class.
