5. New Business
a. Roy Stewart
- Last week 3 council members and a group of PARD/Maintenance went to
Denver, Colorado to meet with the Architect and Building Manager of the
renovations of CAC. Saw a total of 7 facilities. The trip was worthwhile
and able to give the council a feel for what they want.
- On renovations the senior area looks like it will be really useful for seniors
and other members.
- Completion should be in 2015 as they will still have the CAC open during
renovations.
- There are 3 phases to the building;parking will be the first phase.
b. Trent Kelley- SAC
- The trip to Colorado was able to give the Council and PARD staff
perspectives; as the Council is looking for the best interest for the residents
and the PARD/Maintenance looking at facilities side of the building. They
were able to see the actual facilities in person and help with decisions.
- They have finished the schematic design and are now in the Design
Development which includes the budget.
SAC
- AARP Tax-Aide ends April 10,2013; they have been keeping busy
- Senior Golf Tournament is April 25
- May 8 taking Seniors to the Mesquite Rodeo
- SAC will have a Mother's Day Tea May 10
- May 22 Seniors are going to the Rangers game at 1pm
- SAC has been working with FOGSAC to utilize Constant Contact in
providing a monthly electronic email that contains the newsletter
c. Joetta King- GHA
- Foundation concerns on three buildings located on Starr Place and W
Texas have been addressed and repaired.
- Due to concern regarding reduction of funding(federal budget), it was
recommended that GHA not release up any more vouchers until closer to
the end of the year. The GHA usually has 83 vouchers in Section 8
program, but currently has 76. People have voluntarily been taken off the
program. There are about 5 apartment complexes and a few rental houses
that take the vouchers.
6. The meeting adjourned at 4:10 pm
