Consider approval of the minutes of the February 2, 2017 meeting and take any necessary action.

The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this
4th day of May2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with the
following members present:

Constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff:

CALL TO ORDER
Gary Davis called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
ITEM I — Summary of Golf Operations 2nd Quarter
Russell reported on the 2"d Qtr. 2017 vs. the 2"' Qtr. of 2016. Highlighted were Merchandise and
Range were up over 2016. Cart fees and Green, fees pretty flat probably due to the Bunker
renovation project, having the separate nine totally closed Monday through Thursday.
Tom Kormondy ask which quarter was better, the first or second? The answer was the 2"`�
quarter was better and Gary Davis noted that there were 800 more rounds vs the prior year.
Russell and Robert reported that the New POS system went live on 5.1.17, but still working
through some bugs. The online tee time reservation system should go live 5.1.17- 5.10.17. And is
expected to increase bookings.
Mike ask how much putting video would cost to put on range to help protect against theft of
baskets and balls at night.
ITEM 2 — Clubhouse Pro'ect
Russell reported that there were no drawings and cost estimates yet but were in the process.
Surveys were being done for architect purposes. Mike ask to include Range areas for.future
planning Russell reported that He. Robert and the Architect would be meeting with The Corp of
Engineers in discussing the clubhouse plans and upcoming Survey for sight lines.
ITEM 3 — Instructional program u date Pr Academy, GGR Jr Lea ue of
The Jr Academy had 10 kid but down to 8 with expectations of growth in the. following spring
and summer. Referral from existing students are helping. The Jr Academy has 10 kids signed up
for the summer. Eric reported that all of his Get Golf Ready classes are full.for every month with
expectations of adding more classes. Eric said that he has already added a Level 2 class based
on demand and growth. Mike Lease asked i_f we were having any issues with non staff instructors
teaching. The answer from staff was no.
ITEM 4 -- Bunker Project
Merlin said bunker project went very smooth probably because we have ?7 holes and gave the
crew a player free 9 holes during the week. Merlin said that they were learning their way around
the new bunkers, with having to pay more attention to the raking process, and having to check
depths q f sand.
ITEM 5 — Golf Course Maintenance Report
Merlin said they have been staying busy grinding stumps. The Bermuda grass is slow waking up
due to cooler temps. Lott Capone asked about the tree overhanging 46 tee on Pecan, Merlin said
due to the height of the tree branch that he would need to have a tree trimmer handle the process
because ofsafety reasons. New Grapevine logoed trash containers on each tee were soon to be
added to the Pecan nine, each, following year adding Mockingbird and Bluebonnet.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Consideration to approve the minutes_ from the February 2, 2017 meeting were approved with
Tom Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Louis Capone with a second to
the motion. All in Favor: all

ADJOURNMENT Gary Davis asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. A motion to
approve was made by Lou Capone and a second was made by Gary Davis. All in favor:
