SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE EMERGENCY REPAIR FOR OAK GROVE
BASEBALL FIELD H
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for emergency repair for Oak Grove
Baseball Field H from Symmetry Sports Construction for the Parks and
Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Permanent Capital/Street Maintenance Fund
(Parks) for a total amount not to exceed $33,640.
BACKGROUND: Recently, the ground under the infield on field H shifted, causing the
concrete substrate under the synthetic turf to heave significantly. This
caused a major safety hazard with an uneven playing surface. The repairs
are needed on Oak Grove Baseball Field H to make them safe and
playable for the fall season that has already begun. if all goes well, the
repairs should be completed by the start of the season.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the Region VIII Education Service Center known as The
Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) in Texas as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter
791.
An emergency purchase order will be issued to Symmetry Construction
for the repair purchase. Symmetry Construction is a trusted vendor that is
familiar with the fields and product necessary for the repairs to the field.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and contracts were awarded to
Symmetry Sports Construction. The Parks and Recreation and
Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide
the best service and pricing to meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
