As an open structure the arbor is not subject to the same loading as a decked roof and should be analyzed based on projected loadings. The proposed design loading is a uniform loading of 60 #/ linear foot live loading and 60 #/ linear foot dead loading along the header. The bolts to interior studs are prevent the header from pulling away from the wall. The ring shank nails alone, 4 vertical @ 16" O.C. were evaluated for shear capacity. The shear load is approximately 160# at each 4 nail vertical nailing string or 40#/nail to the building OSB sheathing.
