SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the purchase of thermal imaging
cameras from Z-Bar Supply Company LLC for the Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Grant fund for an amount not to exceed
$29,995.00.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to obtain six Thermal Imaging Cameras for the Police
Department's SWAT team (NETCAST), a regional effort shared between
the Cities of Grapevine, Euless, Bedford, and Hurst. These specialized
cameras will allow officers to identify heat sources and potentially locate
individuals during unique response operations.
The Officer of the Governor (OOG), through the Homeland Security Grant
Program (HSGP), awarded the Police Department (NETCAST) grant
funds for this purchase.
Funds for this purchase are available for expenditure, and the purchase
will not exceed $29,995.00.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The City of Fort Worth, as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter
791.
The Police Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract
would provide the best product and pricing for the needs of the Cities.
Staff recommends approval.
