1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 pm on June 6,2017 at
The REC of Grapevine.
The following members were present:
Dick Guckel,Chairperson
Tena Burrell, Co-Chairperson
Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager
Eileen Hinson,Active Adult Supervisor
Kay Blanding
Isabelle Boyd
Pam Price
Linda Troeger, Housing Authority

3. Consideration of minutes for April 4, 2017 meeting
Approved
4. Citizen Requests
Kay Blanding—Asked about the pet policy at the Grapevine Housing Authority.
Linda Troeger will discuss details later in meeting.
Isabelle Boyd—Senior Chorus was busy in May,they will reconvene in August.
Looking to do some sort of dedication for the late pianist, Ralph Gary.

a. Grapevine Housing Authority-Linda Troeger
- Introduced the new Director of Grapevine Housing Authority, Angie
Highland.
-Talked about the policy in place for pets, as the policy is being reviewed.
There is paperwork needed along with the fees.
-Had a successful spring picnic.
b. Maryann Waddell—GRACE
-Friends and Family program:
-Total clients: April 110/May 112
-Total commodities delivered: April 84/May 83
-Volunteer hours: April 79.5 /May(not totaled)
-Total Matches: April 21 /May 20
-New Clients: April 1 /May 1
-New Commodities Clients: April 0/May 1
-New Matches(senior with volunteer): April 0/May 1
-New Volunteers: April 0/May 4
-A twin bed,box springs and bedding was delivered to a senior in need.
-Fifty new donated pillows were distributed with commodities delivery.
-GRACE partnered with a Colleyville leadership team from the Chamber
of Commerce for residence in Grapevine Housing for helping with chores,

bringing and serving lunch and joining in fellowship.
-The GRACE yearly volunteer appreciation luncheon was held on May 5
at DFW Hilton Lakes.
c. Trent Kelley-Recreation Manager
-Capital Projects; working on Oak Grove Softball fields.
-Paddle Trail opened this weekend,had 90 people come out and paddle.
-Lake level is going down as they are releasing some pumps.
-Amazing Race Father/Son event is on June 10.
-McPherson Slough is opening this weekend, closed due to flooding.
-Summer camps have started at The REC.
-Goat Yoga was held at Nash Farms, still have more classes the following
weekends.
-Partnered up with Goodwill, Texas Workforce and GCISD to have
special needs kids working at The REC.
-Softball All Star tournament will be held at Oak Grove.
-Friday June 9 the PARD will help with Feed Our Kids program.
-Looking at adding a volunteer-based transportation program for The REC
parking lot.
-There are plans for the back stairwell to be widened.

d. Eileen Hinson-The REC/Active Adults
-Worked out a plan with the children's camps and the room availability
during the summertime. There will be field trips and excursions for the
classes not having space.
-There are some new programs; Patrece's Park Workout and Picnic and
Happy Trails where seniors either hike or walk the Grapevine trail system.
-Generations is coming to The REC with Big Brothers Big Sisters
partnering with GCISD and Active Adults. An Active Adult will be paired
with a 2nd or 3rd grader and be a mentor. They will meet 2 times a month
with a planned activity. This will start in the fall and go throughout the
school year. The Active Adults will have to complete an application and
then be interviewed.
-Young Men's Service League and National Charity League (young men
and women along with their mothers)are coming to help with various
tasks on the Active Adult side.
-Explained the purpose of the SeniorMovers program.
e. Dick Guckel
-Mentioned the computer program and the 3 different genealogy classes
available. The REC bus took the genealogy participants to the Dallas
Library recently.
if. Carey Miller
-Is involved with the Grapevine Lions Club looking to help serve the city
and mentioned getting them involved with the Active Adults program.
6. The meeting adjourned at 4:04 pm.
