SENDDf�ACTIVITIES T DIRECTOR H:GSCAB agenda02/25/02 (kw GRAPEVINE SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD March 1, 2002 The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met on March 1, 2002 at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center. The following members were present: Dr. Edith Pewitt —Chair Dorothy Kritz Irving Bowling - V. Chair Doris Waite Miriam Bahner - Secretary Others present: Linda Gregory Clydene Johnson Dr. Stephanie Whetsell Edith welcomed everyone to the meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved. Linda and Jennifer are working on getting a list of seniors names and addresses from the tax role, rec trac and possibly from Grace and Hud in order to send out the newsletter to tir as many seniors in Grapevine as possible. The plans for the Senior Fair were discussed. The Fair will be held on July 13, 2002 at 9:30 A.M. till 12 noon. The following groups will be contacted to provide entertainment: The Senior Choir Sue Franks Kids Who Care Rocky Presentations by the following organizations was suggested Parks and Recreation—Keep Grapevine Beautiful Historical Society—Ted Wilhoite give a brief reading of the diary Heritage Foundation—Palace Theater and Opry Power Point on the Senior Center—Linda Gregory All the entertainment and presentations would have a limit of 10 minutes each. The program would alternate between entertainment and presentations. A table would be set up to have brochures from the various organizations in Grapevine of interest to seniors and a list of their phone numbers available for seniors to take with them. Dorothy and Miriam were asked to help the staff make the phone calls to these organizations to get the brochures for the fair. Clydene and Edith will make the contacts for the presentations. The following refreshments will be available: Arrival- Coffee and orange juice Noon - Sandwich rolls, fruit, chips, cookies, punch and coffee The following places were suggested to obtain door prizes: Ceramics— Senior Center—Linda Gregory will get these. Grace Charlie's Venue Burrus Each one was asked to try to obtain a door prize. Edith will get the table decoration. (hr Those making the contacts for the entertainment and presentations should try to have commitments by the April meeting. Lou Pemberton from the new retirement housing on Glade Road is to be at the April meeting. The next meeting will be held on April 5, 2002 at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
