Edith introduced and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved.
(hir The plans for the Senior Fair were discussed.
Edith said that she talked to Joe Moore and he will make a presentation and have
brochures on display for Keep Grapevine Beautiful.
Peggy Riddle will have brochures for the Heritage Foundation.
Ted Wilhoite will give a presentation from the Diary representing the Historical Society.
Edith will call Hud and Janice Robinson at the Library.
Edith arranged to have the brochures taken to Palace Theater on the Friday before the
fair.
Trisha is having some seniors do a skit which is being arranged by the Volunteer
Coordinator at Grace.
Karla said that Linda is preparing her power point presentation on the Senior Center.
Trisha said that she is contributing an item and a gift certificate from Graceful Buys for
door prizes. Edith is going to go to Charlie's Café for a gift certificate for a door prize.
Karla said that 148 people have been transported by Senior Movers.
Karla also said that they had a 1,000 newsletters printed and they ran out. They've had to
make black and white copies.
Edith suggested that we ask seniors what their concerns are in the newsletter and also
(ir have a suggestion box.
The newsletters in May and June need to have information about the Senior Fair and an
invitation included in the letter.
The fair would open with the Senior Choir singing. Ted Wilhoite's presentation should be
in the middle of the program. Entertainment and presentations should be alternated. The
program should end on a patriotic theme having the senior choir and all present sing God
Bless America.
The Senior Citizens Advisory Board members must be at the Palace Theater at 8:30 A.M.
The morning of the Fair.
The menu of what food is to be served and the time it should be served should be
finalized at the next meeeting.
Irving thinks that the veterans should be remembered more often. Perhaps plan a time to
honor veterans around Veterans Day in November maybe doing something around the
statue of the veteran on Main St.
People coming to the Historical Society have requested post cards of Grapevine.
Suggestions for cards were pictures of the library, convention center, the statuary and
(ir other historical places. Clydene said that she would talk to someone about having post
cards made to place on sale at the various organizations.
The next meeting will be held on June 7, 2002 at 2 P.M. at the Grapevine Senior
Activities Center.
The meeting was adjourned at 3 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
LD
