The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met ot6gust 1, 200 at the Grapevine
Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:
Dr. Edith Pewitt–Chair Martie Chaplin
Miriam Bahner - Secretary Pat Frosch
Dorothy Kritz Doris Waite
Burrell, Tena Bruce Walters
Others present:
Linda Gregory Jennifer Hibbs
Tim Gill—Crime Prevention
Ted Ware—Council Member Liaison
Edith introduced and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved.
Miriam was re-elected as secretary
(11, Volunteer recruitment was discussed. It was suggested that the newspapers be used to see
if and where volunteers are needed. It was also discussed as to changes that needed to
be made as to where volunteers are needed in the various organizations.
Opportunities for volunteers such as the Nash Farms and the Botanical Gardens could
be put in the newspapers.
Edith will talk to Les Cockrell about it and give a report at the next meeting.
Jennifer Hibbs talked about a new transportation system and hoped they would have a
new provider by October 11.
The Senior Movers program was discussed and the need for more drivers also the need to
screen users for handicap needs.
Pat said they are finding an increase in people needing help. She also said they are trying
to open a clinic about September 23rd for uninsured people. The clinic would probably be
open from 5:30-8:30 P.M.
Linda talked about a benefits checkup.
National Night Out is scheduled for August 5, 2003 from 6-9 P.M.
It was discussed how often to have board meetings. No decision was made beyond the
Lif next meeting.
The next meeting will be held on October 3, 2003 at 2 P.M. at the Grapevine Senior
Activities Center.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 P.M.
