MEMO TO: SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD
FROM: JENNIFER HIBBS, ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 3, 2003
SUBJECT: NETS SERVICE TRANSITION
On Monday, The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (the T) and the
American Red Cross (ARC) began providing service to NETS clients. A
letter (see attached) was sent out to each current client detailing the
details of the change . The change will not effect days and time of service
or cost to the passenger.
Over the next several months we hope to add more service capacity
through the purchase of additional vehicles. Currently, we have two new
vehicles approved for purchase. In addition, Representative Granger is
working to secure six additional vehicles. The Bill that those vehicles are
in has passed the US House of Representatives and now needs to go to
the Senate and, likely, a conference committee.
The ARC has a more sophisticated routing hardware and software
system. This should also help make the service more efficient.
Once the new vehicles are online and the ARC has had an opportunity to
insure a smooth transition, the participating cities plan to promote the
service in the media to increase usage.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or comments about
the service. I can be reached at 817-410-3106.

TRANSPO TATION
SERVICE
September 22,2003
Dear NETS Rider:
We are pleased to tell you about some exciting changes that will be made to Northeast
Transportation Services (NETS ) in the next few weeks. First, there will be a new
provider of the service. Effective September 29', The T in cooperation with the
American Red Cross will be providing this service that has been provided by the
YMCA for many years. As you know, your City participates in the NETS program in a
partnership with seven other cities in northeast Tarrant County. These cities have formed
a board of directors for NETS, and have entered into a contract with this new team in an
effort to improve your service.
In the days ahead some things will remain the same about your transportation service, and
some will change. The following list provides information about what you can expect
during this transition.
*The phone number to call to book a trip will change to (817) 336-8714
*The cost for a trip will stay the same for the time being.
*Your options of places to go on NETS will remain the same.
*The rules for booking a trip will remain the same.
*Because you have used NETS at some time in the past, you are"in the system.",and
there is no need to register for the service again.
Our goal is for the service to be better than ever, something you can really count on!
A Fact Sheet is enclosed to help you use NETS effectively. As we are able to improve
the performance and reliability of NETS,we want to be able to add more customers and
increase the number of trips NETS is able to provide in the future. Thank you for riding
NETS, and we look forward to your continued participation.
Yours truly,
Roger Nelson
Chairman of the Board
