1. The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met on August 6, 2004 at the Grapevine Senior
Activities Center.
The following members were present:
Dr. Edith Pewitt—Chairperson
Dorothy Kritz—Ex-officio, Grapevine Senior Activities Center
Doris Waite— Ex-officio, Grapevine Housing Authority
Pat Frosh, Ex-officio, GRACE
Martie Chaplin, Secretary

Linda Gregory— SAC Director
Ken Anderson, President, Friends of the Grapevine Senior Activities Center (FoGSCA)
Ted Ware— City Council Member Liaison
Jennifer Hibbs—Assistant to City Manager
Linda Huff, City Secretary
Frank Hopkins—Guest of Bruce Walters
(kr 2. Guests Ken Anderson, Jennifer Hibbs, Frank Hopkins and Linda Huff were welcomed.
3. Newly appointed Board Members Bruce Walters, Anne Pitts, Doris Waite, Dorothy Kritz and Pat
Frosch were introduced and sworn in. Dr. Edith Pewitt was delayed because of construction around
the Center and Linda Huff will swear her in at Secretary's office before the next meeting.
4. The minutes of the previous meeting on February 18, 2004 were considered and approved.
5. Ken Anderson made his presentation regarding the "Friends of the Grapevine Senior Activities
Center(FoGSCA)".
Three people spearheaded initiative to resurrect a 501(c)(3) corporation and named it"Friends of the
(, Grapevine Senior Activities Center"patterned after the one at the library for tax exempt donation
status and to receive gifts and take advantage of grants' funding. (Brochure distributed) Board is
himself, Dick Guckel that works with GRACE, Roger Jones, Lou Ann Chapman Gatts and Judy
Sherman. Membership is $5, open to all, Linda Gregory Ex-officio member of the Board.
Bruce Walters asked if Ken could put together a needs list. Ken offered example of Computer lab
needing upgrading. Computers are 4 years old with Windows 98 and half students have XP.
Probably need to be replacements. Linda also mentioned such things as a laminator and new bus.
Pat suggested approaching IBM for computers. Ken being from IBM in past is aware and also
thought about Verizon.

7. Old Business:
a. Report on Nets
Jennifer said that the demand response transportation system that the Fort Worth Transportation
(iw took over from YMCA last year seems to be working better. She distributed ridership statistics.
Overall ridership up 20% and#of refusals only 1.85%.
Jennifer asked for comments from anyone who had heard from their constituents. Edith gave
positive feedback. There were no suggestions for improvements.
b. Report on SeniorMovers
Linda Gregory reported many staff changes at the Center. She also gave statistics on how they
were still able to meet needs of everyone during these changes. She is confident they are still
doing an excellent job and said again how people from all over Tarrant County are impressed
with what is accomplished in Grapevine.
Linda said she received a letter about a public transportation meeting and asked Jennifer if that
affects the Board in any way. There was some discussion.
c. GRACE

Pat mentioned they are currently busy getting school supplies ready for distribution soon. She
also reminded us about the many services they provide. They do 450-500 interviews with
families per month. Clinic is doing well. They have treated about 175 patients, average
100/month. They are starting to see many more long term care patients. Pat also talked about
how GRACE serves Seniors with other programs. Ted commented about how well GRACE
does the job much better than in the past when many organizations were duplicating efforts. It
works much better now.
d. Center and Housing—all going well. Edith said Linda does a great job even with a short staff.
8. New Business
a. Discussion—future items of interest. None were mentioned but Linda reminded everyone to call
her or Edith with suggestions for future meetings.
9. The next meeting will be on October 1, 2004.
