1. The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met on February 3, 2006 at the Grapevine Senior Activities
Center.
The following members were present:
Dr. Edith Pewitt—Chairperson
Pat Frosch—Ex-officio, GRACE
Dorothy Kritz—Ex-officio, Grapevine Senior Activities Center
Martie Chaplin, Secretary
R. Bruce Walters
Dick Guckel
Others present:
Kaye Grayson, SAC Director
Ted Ware—City Council Member Liaison
Chris Smith—Recreation Superintendent, Parks &Recreation
2. Introduction of New Ex-Officio Board Member
Marian Nicastro was not present
(03. Consideration of minutes for December 2, 2005 meeting. Minutes were approved as presented.
4. Citizen Requests—none. Edith encouraged future requests.
5. New Business
a. Introduction of New SAC Director—Kaye Grayson
Edith introduced Kaye and asked that she tell about her herself and what her aspirations are... Her
background is with the City of Dallas and most recently with the Senior Citizen Services of Greater
Tarrant County. Kaye said since she started December 12th, she recognizes the City's great support and
went over many of the programs she plans to continue and also work on increasing participation in.
b. Housing Authority Update. None available.
c. GRACE update on Open House—Pat Frosch
Renovations are continuing and parking lot is next on list. Opening anticipated for May 11. Pantry food
vouchers will be available once new facility ready. Clinic will be once a week to start, including
diabetic clinic.
Classes at Tech Center are mostly full which are open to the public and GRACE clients. Furniture
Warehouse is moving to retail store on Northwest Highway where the Kawasaki Dealership used to be.
It is opening probably middle of February and will include more than just furniture. There was also
some discussion of how challenging it is to get to Graceful Buys with a wheel chair. Pat mentioned it is
a leased building and they have to depend on the owners' handicap accommodations.
Pat also said that they'll be doing summer lunches at 2 different apartment complexes. She asked if the
Board knows of any churches available to provide lunches for one of the weeks, to give her a call. They
do about 100 children at each of the apartments.

Edith asked if Pat has any new concerns about Senior's needs. Pat said that Utility bills are going up
and talked about Tena Burrell's presentation about Medicare D availability. Then there was discussion
about how confusing the program is.
Bruce asked Pat for any specific people needs. GRACE needs people to help GRACE move after the
renovations are complete. Once new pantry is opened GRACE hopes to have cooking and nutrition
classes.
d. Other
Bruce asked about SeniorMovers. Kaye said they're still looking for drivers and a new brochure is in
the works.
It seems Anne Pitts may have moved. Her husband moved to Hawaii. The Board has not gotten a letter
of resignation. Ted suggested contacting Linda Huff. Edith said that she believes we may have to fill
the vacancy.
Edith asked Dick to speak about FOGSAC. A 55 Alive Class was held using the new audio visual
equipment and had 28 people participate. Since quarters were cramped, Dick is hoping to get a different
screen. Dick also talked about the dedication ceremonies for the equipment. He is bringing two more
projects up to the FOGSAC Board on Monday.
(1100 Edith had asked Dick to look into getting a popcorn machine for SAC. He thinks he has found one for a
little over$500. He also discovered a local supplies vendor. Edith is going to personally give a check to
FOGSAC for the popcorn machine as her contribution.
