from Las Vegas as a surprise. The dance is sponsored by the Women's Division of the Grapevine

There were no citizens' requests for consideration.
5. New business:
a. Housing Authority Update— Debra Wells
Marian Nicastro was in Washington -- and Debra gave her report. They are ready to go out for bids
for irrigation project but waiting until HUD releases 2007 capital funds end of this month and they'll
get started.
j„► They've had several deaths recently but they are still full.

(Iire At the end of the summer they will have served 12,000 meals to kids during summer. August 22
they'll be at Senior Center giving out school supplies. Christmas In July was a big success.
GRACE had 123 clients shop at food bank last month—largest ever. They're also starting a
Diabetic Clinic.
c. Senior Activities Center update— Kaye Grayson
They had 54 seniors register for computer classes on Monday. And they'll have another
registration in September. Kaye responded to Tena that the Center has about 12 volunteer
teachers and others assist. (30, including assistants). Ken Anderson is over the program and if we
know of anyone who wants to volunteer to help, to contact him.
Zanda from Area Agency on Aging is keeping in touch with Kaye about future Caregiver programs.
The cookout last Friday was fun. We had around 80 seniors including our special guests that
attended the lunch. We cooked out on our new grill made possible through the SAC Advisory
Council and The City of Grapevine. The Knitting and Crocheting Group has been meeting on
Wednesdays and their donations are sent to JPS, for baby infants needs. The Choir started back
again last week. They meet every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Paul mentioned that Defensive Driving Classes are coming up in September;
which also helps people learn about the Center. While they're here for classes
they'll pick up information at the desk about the activities at the Center. There
(11, was a discussion about upcoming State legislation affecting senior drivers; and,
online defensive driving courses.
c. Ted Ware
No news out of Budget meetings yet. But, they are anticipating costs relating to flooding in Parks
areas. There is talk that FEMA will give assistance.
d. Discussion on New To Dos for next month
Tena learned from Kaye that there are no requests from anyone to attend and present something to
the Board for next month. Kaye asked if there was anything we were interested in having set up to
let her know. Tena said it is good idea to have police come in once a year to discuss system for
tracking folks; but too early right now because they were here in the Spring.
Next meeting is set for Tuesday, October 2; Dick will be back then.
6. Adjourn
There were no more new needs expressed and nothing that required Board attention
'Respectfully submitted,
