01—
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: JUNE 20, 2017
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE AND
INSTALLATION OF AN EPDXY FLOORING SYSTEM AT FIRE
STATION NO. 5
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase and installation of an
epoxy flooring system at Fire Station No. 5 from Retail Commercial Flooring, Inc. through
an interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 174-74004-118-007 (Fire
Station Repairs & Maint.) for a total amount not to exceed $28,300.00.
BACKGROUND:
This request is for the three apparatus bay floor at Fire Station No. 5 that is approximately
15 years old and is showing signs of cracking and chipping in various locations of the floor.
The floor has also lost the non-slip top coating that was applied. The new floor system will
consist of a primer coat, base coat with sand broadcast, top coat and seal coat. The floor
will have a non-slip finish. Retail Commercial Flooring, Inc. will grind the old epoxy floor
coating off in preparation for the new floor.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The
Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791 .
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Retail Commercial
Flooring, Inc. The Facility Services and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
departmental specification compliance, service and pricing and determined that the
contract would best meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
