SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO EXTEND AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR CITY
JANITORIAL SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to extend an annual contract for six months for City
janitorial services with Regent Services.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is limited to the budgeted amount by each department in an
estimated six month amount of $225,503.82.
BACKGROUND:
Staff is proposing to extend the current contract for six months to provide sufficient time to
issue a call for a Request for Proposals to provide the janitorial services for the coming
years.
The purpose of this contract has been and will continue to be to establish fixed annual
pricing for janitorial services to be performed at various City facilities. The proposed six
month extension represents a 44% increase from last year for a similar six month period.
The increase includes the new Public Safety Building at 87,000 sq. ft. and an increase
service level at The Rec from $0.069 per sq. ft. to $0.135 per sq. ft. In 2015 the business
plan for The REC reflected a projected membership of 12,000 members. During the last
two years the City has seen an increase to over 19,000 members. Other Rec facilities of
similar service levels are paying in the range of the new proposed amount.
Staff recommends approval.
