HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Stop Loss Insurance MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL rz FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER I MEETING DATE: AUGUST 1, 2017 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR RFP 456- 2017 FOR STOP LOSS INSURANCE RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of a contract for RFP 456-2017 Stop Loss Insurance with Munich Re. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account in account 100-45674-109-1 (Health Insurance Premium) in the estimated annual amount of $472,000. BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish a one year contract for stop loss insurance. An RFP was issued in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021(a) and Section 252.041(a) and in conjunction with the City's insurance consultants; McGriff, Seibels and Williams. The RFP was advertised in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on June 29 and July 6, 2017. There were 80 vendors electronically notified of the RFP through the eBid system. One vendor submitted a response to the RFP. The RFP was opened publicly at the offices of McGriff, Seibels and Williams on July 20, 2017 at 2 pm. The City's insurance consultants, McGriff, Seibels and Williams evaluated the sole proposal from Munich Re based on the City's requirements and the services offered. Staff reviewed the proposal also and recommended that the contract be awarded to Munich Re. Staff recommends approval. MH/BS
