FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE FIVE BUTTERFLY VALVES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase five butterfly valves from Municipal Valve & Equipment.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43360-534-0 (Water Supply Infrast.
Maint.) in an amount not to exceed $29,482.00.
BACKGROUND:
The five butterfly valves to be purchased are for the replacement of aging and leaking
valves for the Water Treatment Plant. The valves currently in place are approximately
25+ years of age and are well past their prime. Three valves are needed for control of
the influent water flow to the filters and two valves are needed for the backwash control
of the filters. The necessity of these valves are crucial to the success of filter operation
which leads to properly treated water.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. Municipal Valve & Equipment submitted the lowest responsive and
responsible quote meeting specifications.
