CALL TO ORDER
Chairman James Buckner called the meeting to order.
OATH OF TRUTH
The Oath of Truth was then administered to applicant Glen
Alford and guest, Glenda Kirkland.
Mr. Buckner began the hearing by explaining that the appli-
cant had requested a thirteen foot variance in the thirty
foot front yard requirement, which had been violated by the
construction of a garage. The property in question was
identified as being Tract 2 of the H. J. Harper Addition,
or 2925 Kimbell Road.
Building Official Sue Sanders advised that a building permit
had not been taken out on the project until near completion.
A lengthy discussion ensued during which the terrain and
shape of the property in question were discussed. Mrs.
Sanders provided the Committee with a copy of the original
site plan on which the building permit for construction of
the house was applied.
City Planner, Marc Guy, advised that he was not in receipt
of any correspondence either for or against the application.
Following a discussion relative to the unusual circumstances
of the case, Member Charles Cox made a motion to grant the
application as requested. The motion was seconded by Rickey
Wright and prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes : Buckner, Woods, Wright, Thompson, & Cox
Nays : None
Absent: Lamb & Spencer
MISCELLANEOUS DISCUSSION
Member Gerald Thompson suggested that some consideration be
given to fining violators in lieu of simply granting the re-
quest for a variance once the structure was completed.
Member Jesse Woods suggested that a topography of the area
be required with an application if the terrain is a major
factor. He also suggested that a method of ascertaining
whether or not the structure is being built in accordance
with the site plan be determined by the Building Inspection
Department.
